Happy Holidays to everyone!

We are having ham, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, something else (I was turning a deaf ear), chocolate pudding pie and dinner rolls.

Yes, I am up early...back problems and I had to take some Tramadol and diet MD. Anyone want to pop my back?

Merry Christmas everyone.

At thanksgiving, it was decided that instead of a traditional Christmas meal, we were going to do something different.

And as a result, there is a contest in the house this year. My niece and I are competing on the best lasagna.

This morning, at 7AM after feeding the dogs, my sauce went on to slow cook. I am making a veggie lasagna, fresh chopped spinach, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano and asiago cheeses.

My niece just started her sauce about 8 this evening, and she is only using three cheeses, mild Italian sausage and ground beef.

have you ever had cooked pumpkin in your veggie lasagne?? divine! (though you'd probably call it squash rather than pumpkin. or butternut squash/pumpkin i think)

ETA: we had a boned and rolled turkey roast, roast potatoes, bread stuffing, pumpkin and onion, beans, carrots, and sweet potatoes and choko's fresh from the community garden. we had trifle for dessert, the pavlova was just too much, so that didn't get made up - it'll be eaten with leftovers tomorrow [:)] was stiflingly hot inside after all the cooking, so we had it outside under the pergola with twinkly fairy lights and a cooling breeze as the sun thought about going down.

Now I am jealous...too cold to eat outside. Can I come over?

It's Christmas day.

We have a little tree up and some presents under it, including a prezzy for the dog. We have our Christmas hats on and breakfast is on the stove. I see that some will be working, some of you will officially be celebrating Christmas on another day, some are ill and some are home alone. I hope no matter what your situation, you enjoy the day in good spirits.

Happy Christmas day from Florida.

^ That is captivating and beautiful. That has a lot of old world charm. Here is my morning with the dog by the pool, she was feeling the spirit and wore the hat.

Then she opened her present. We got her a monkey. She loves chewing the squeakers out of stuffed animals and silencing them. It's like some sacred dog duty . . . "must chew up squeakers"

PS: Does any one do New Year's Resolutions any more?

Not until after the junk food is gone!

(I have been pretty good about continuing to use myfitnesspal throughout the holidays.)

Okie dokie, can't order pizza, BUT my favorite Chinese place is open and still delivering. I'm having "A Christmas Story" type meal for the next 3-4 nights. Perfectly happy with that. No stress, no fuss, no mess.

I saw that for the first time XMas eve and have been teasing my man about the lack of a lesson to the story other than to ask the right person for what you want. Tonight we're going to watch Gremlins or Religulous.

Well, since I was and am on my lonesome from the 19th to the 30th, and have some sorta virus, dishes were out of the question. I wanted to watch a day of "A Christmas Story" yesterday, only to realize the cable company here no longer offers TBS at all. I was NOT a happy camper. It is kinda silly though, I have most of my favorite Christmas movies on DVD after all. [8D]

Only if we allow retailers to hijack the holiday--first rushing us into it at the expense of Advent, then dismantling the trees on Boxing Day.

Liturgically and traditionally, Christmas is twelve days.
