Status: offline 		I got an amazing Christmas gift from my awesome mother, and I thought it might be a bit of a giggle to share it with you.

She got me a book printed 1860 with the tremendous title:

'Peletiah Pettengill's Perfect Fortune-Teller and Dream-Book;
Or, the ART OF DISCERNING FUTURE EVENTS
as practiced by
MODERN SEERS AND ASTROLOGERS
being also
A Key to the Hidden Mysteries of the Middle Ages.
To which is added
CURIOUS AND AMUSING CHARMS, INVOCATIONS, SIGNS ETC'

If anyone cares to take a turn, I will interpret your dream, tell you your zodiac-based personality (be warned, some of them are damning!), advise you on how to choose a good husband or wife, make various prognostications based on your moles, or provide you with charms to make your wife fruitful or check if your valentine is true to you.

My dreams are too complicated to go into right now, so here goes:

I'm a Libra.
I DO have a beauty mark near the base of my left cheek. (Yes, the other kind of cheek.)
I don't have a Valentine, so I would need advice on how to choose the right man. He has to be submissive, though, no compromising there.

I think it was through Alibris, or some similar rare books site. I've always been fascinated with all sorts of folk-magic and fortune telling. She's a very thoughtful lady.

Hmmm... might have missed the mark there, Peletiah. Obedient and complying wife doesn't go well for a dominant woman.

i'm a leo. i have a recurring dream in which i'm golfing with my (long dead) father on some super trashy course that's literally right next to a loud amusement park. there are two other dudes, a fat dude and a skinny dude, in our foursome who keep sucking up to dad. we're all wearing swords and my dad warns me that there are goblins known to live in this course which he hates playing. we get up to a sand trap and there is a huge whale flopping around and something trying to crawl out of its blowhole. my father looks disgusted and mutters "goddamn prophets. they're terrible this time of year." i don't really remember anything else.

added fact: in real life i hate golf but love the outfits.

Status: offline 		Im a Gemini with no birth marks, have a bad habit of hooking up with woman in the "sick puppy" genre, been married 4 times, and my dreams usually involve memories of combat, my late mother telling me to play the lotto, or wondering through an old house.

Ancestrally, I am of the wolf clan of the Cherokee, the wolf figures strong in my Apache ancestry and one of my Welsh ancestors had a wolf on his coat of arms.

Your dream isn't promising. It seems that you are (or will soon be) poor (the sword), you are in great peril of losing either life or property (the whale), and your wife will soon bear a child of dubious paternity (the other dudes). Ms. Pettengil doesn't speak of golf, unfortunately. HOWEVER talking with your deceased father is an auspicious omen, so I guess there's light at the end of the tunnel.

It appears you should choose a 'light complexioned, fleshy, good tempered man, fond of eating and of ease generally'. You might make him fret sometimes, but that's apparently good for his health.
Alternatively, a red-haired man who is amorous suits 'a dark passionate girl who is exceedingly fond of having her own way'

Edit because I missed it: A beauty mark on the buttock unfortunately means you are shiftless and lazy!

all eerily accurate i'm afraid, as i've recently gambled away a family fortune at various disreputable clubs in moscow and dubai and some of my more colourful creditors have taken to threatening my life in increasingly less subtle ways (this morning i awoke to find a very convincingly contrived toy gun had been placed next to my pillow while i slept),

the description of me as a leo is completely wrong though, as i prefer to think of myself as more "choleric" than "quarrelsome."

Apparently your dream means you have (or will soon have) a new admirer.

A mark on the leg means 'a thoughtless and indolent disposition, much given to the pleasures of love, extravagance and dissipation. You will at some time be imprisoned [I sure hope you're into cages and this doesn't mean jail!] but after that you will do better and have good luck.

There are some combinations of brown-haired men and blonde/red women being a good match - particularly if he is 'thin and fretful' with an active mind and you are 'plump and amiable' (the fatter the better, apparently!). The military again indicates public arguments, I'm afraid. Can't find anything about medieval games.
