Strenuously disagreeing is an important thing. I just suspect that a more measured response from GLAAD that toned down the polemic rhetoric, would have given the media less chum in the water, that's all.


On his first comment, I would agree that nobody should be required to get turned on over the thought of butt sex with men, IF what really turns them on is pussy sex with women.
I might suggest they not knock it until they've tried it 7 or 8 times, but to call that expressing that preference 'vile' is to call every lesbian vile as well as every heterosexual male, innit?

On the next part, didn't he give that list of OT transgressions in direct response to the question 'What is sin?'

I myself don't find any of those OT prohibitions and mandates terribly persuasive, and I'm particularly unconvinced by faith based morality arguments in general. As it turns out, nobody asked me to be interviewed for GQ on what the Bible says. Hmmmmm.

Here is the qualifier Robertson added in there somewhere later:

That sort of disclaimer is all too often a facile front, of the 'I'm no racist, but...' type.
Thing is, I must have missed the 'but'.

As fundy dogmatic rants go, Robertson's seems mighty short on the parts about killing, or banning, or smiting, etc.

So again, I assess that GLAAD's choice of rhetoric elevated the 'circus-like' atmosphere over the whole thing and gave the media more reason to keep their opponent's words in the press... and perhaps ceded the tactical high ground of martyrdom to Phil.

the best advertising is free advertising, and no press is bad press..
you don't think they want higher ratings? their ratings for season 4 were less than the ratings for season 3, dude.. of course they wanted to boost them back up & what better way than a created controversy & a claimed "suspension".. I wonder how many previous non-viewers tuned in to see what it was all about.. some might continue to watch, some might not.. (but they can rot their brains & watch if they want to, its a free country after all.. )

The show and the network get tons of free publicity out of these fiascos. I think he's toying with us, now, lol.

It is impossible to prove he did not say it, and it is highly likely he said something very similar; he was a very devout man.

Status: offline 		Not a big fan of Voltaire, since he was a free marketer.  And he wasn't all that devout.   He looked good, but wasn't necessarily being good, he was a pillar of the church type.

Not quite. People are now digging through the archives to find other things they can be offended about. This was something he said in 2009.

Make sure they can cook, clear it with their folks, marry 'em while they are still young enough to train properly and haven't been turned into materialistic wallet drainers, and you'll get a woman who will pluck your ducks. What an awful person he is, spouting opinions like that.

A man who wrote a biography years after the man was dead with no course to support his claim.

And Washington was not a very devout man. He was a deist and was very skeptical of Christianity.
