Here's the thing.
I didn't really give a rat's ass whether Obama was or wasn't a citizen (and fundamentally still don't, much). The allegation that republican only care because Obama is (half)black is so offensive. Because I would (and do) insist that the same standards be applied to mccain, rubio, cruz - whomever. I want to know that any candidate follows the rules.
The following pisses me off.
a). It pisses me off that average, everyday people don't have the right to ask that the parties prove the citizenship of their candidates. In this case, two prominent DEMOCRATS (hilary supporters) sued to have obama prove he was qualified to be a candidate for president. It went all the way to the supreme court and they dismissed.
b). It pisses me off that the democratic and republican parties have manipulated the system so that such a simple and rudimentary question - no one, not the FEC, no one - makes an examination of that question. All it requires is a pledge by the head of the party that he meets the qualifications for the party. It should be part of the FEC's mission to verify eligibility. But its not.
c). When Obama "released" a birth certificate - I downloaded it - and it is absolutely clear that the information was a blatant forgery. Anyone that knows anything about Adobe knows that you can take cut and pastes and superimpose these over the actual fields in the adobe document. And this is what had been done in his 'supposed' document. It was not only fake - it was a fake that was so incompetent I don't know how to explain it. I still don't.
d). Finally, it is my suspicion that Obama applied to college and got financial aid as a foreigner - and this is why the records for his college admission (etc) have been sealed. Otherwise, I don't see why he wouldn't have released these de-rigeur.
Separating the question of Obamat, the process failed us. And it is my hope that with the question of Obama now moot, I'm hoping that left and right could both agree that these issues should not be something that divide us.
