http://www.frontpagemag.com/2014/dgreenfield/french-city-with-40-muslim-population-is-the-most-dangerous-city-in-europe/

quote:

French City with 40% Muslim Population is the Most Dangerous City in Europe

The gritty Mediterranean port, France's second-largest city, was appointed the "cultural capital of Europe," a rotating European Union honor. City fathers launched beautification projects, created new tourism attractions and invited people from around the world to visit. A splendid stone esplanade was laid around the Old Port, peppered with novel sculpture, and a high-tech historical museum went up next to City Hall.

How did that work out?

The eruption has refocused attention on Marseille's long-standing reputation as a European drug-smuggling hub, a place where entire neighborhoods have slipped away from police control and fallen under the command of gangsters who earn millions importing and selling North African hashish and settle turf disputes with AK-47 assault rifles.

"Marseille is sick with its violence," Interior Minister Manuel Valls said.

Vowing to squash the drug trade and end the violence, Valls last week dispatched 250 paramilitary and other national police officers to reinforce the usual deployment of around 3,000. The night after they were deployed, with television cameras in tow, another body was found, burned to a crisp with a bullet in its charred skull, the execution method local traffickers call the "barbecue." The next day, two Turkish immigrants were shot and wounded, and a pair of youths driving by on a motor scooter opened fire with a pistol on a third man, wounding him in the legs.

Marseille doesn't have a violence problem. It has a Muslim immigrant problem.

More at the link dealing with No Go Zones and other issues in that particular AO.

But what solution is there to the "Muslim Problem" that doesn't culminate in a "Final Solution"?

Wow. Gross.

Re the article: Daniel Greenfield should really relax. The French are totally capable of being appallingly racist and spuriously blaming broad social problems on "omg immigrants!" on their own, without any help at all from rampaging freelance Islamophobes. Is he trying to sell a book these days? I'll bet he's trying to sell a book these days.

Maybe the French will send in The Legion as they did in Algiers many years ago................Between The Legion, the SDECE and Les Barbouzes, there was no problem at all within a couple of months. The french version of the Pax Romani

Ah. So we should just relax and go visit the most violent city in Europe. I shall place it on my itinerary.

Drug smuggling and killings are "hip" these days, and all.

indeed. if creepy american rightwingers were more familiar with the final phases of the guerre d'algerie there would be less francophobia and more "frantically jerking off to thoughts of de gaulle."

What's wrong with this loon? He can't work out whether he's talking about Marseille, Marseilles or The Marseillaise (which is the French National Anthem)? Maybe he should go home to New Yorgue/New Yorque/Yorkshire Pudding for a good rest.

I think the answer is to get your head out of your arse and stop reading alarmist/racist bullshit such as frontpage.

I am guessing no one in NY recalls the French Connection

He probably thinks that La Marseillaise is something that comes in squeeze bottles and goes on salad

In that case he's doing us all a service by bringing a shocking issue to our attention. I, for one, would not like my mayonnaise to be made out of 40% Muslims.

especially the ones who went into Algiers...............there were a hell of a lot of germans in amongst them, many of whom were ex(?)nazis and were very proud of it. They could REALLY stuff up your salad.

But to go back to the original; I think it is going to need a hell of a lot more than 3,250 police and para-military to get a grip on Marseilles and maintain that grip. It does have a similarity to Algiers and a few other flare-ups in the sense that your enemy doesn't wear a uniform so you don't know who he is. The cops and para-military DO and they make excellent targets. Think Belfast and I am sure you get the picture.

Its drug related crime, no more no less.

The Op would like to think the killings in US Cities are all drug related while those in Europe are done by evil Muslims..... Its just Islamophobic bullshit.

I agree totally but if one side (the authorities) over-react, it can turn into a blood-bath. The drug lords will bring in troops from other parts of France or wherever and then it's on for young and old. I surely hope it doesn't come to that and it all just quietens down and the rabble rousers stop and think.

For all the big noting of Marsailles as a crime infested gang ruled city, the actual murder rates (according to the BBC) there are:
*up to Oct 13 2013; 15
* 2012: 24
* 2011 : 20
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24380941

These figures appear to be for all murders, not just organised crime or drug related murders. I imagine these figures are petty low compared to many US cities. But hey, who ever let the facts get in the way of a bit of Muslim-bashing?

I agree with that................and they are probably very similar to some Australian cities too.
My father always told me 'Never hate people in the plural'. Painting a whole people with a wide brush is never really acceptable
