Glad you all like Downton Abbey! As a UK resident, it's great to see our domestic service history makes good entertainment in the US. I kind of secretly dream of maid duty below stairs!

My sense was that Thomas's antipathy toward the nanny stemmed from resentment of her asking him to convey messages more than from concern about the children. And why's he going after Anna now?

Does anybody make an event out of watching? Favorite snacks or beverage? Working on a hobby while watching?? And does anyone else agree that Bates is the hottest guy on the show? The smile (with laugh lines!) he gave Anna after he "repaid" Moseley his debt?? Woof!!

HORRIFIED for Anna. The opera scene made me miss my daughter. "O, Mia Bambino Caro" was her audition piece when she was choosing a conservatory. All in all. Heart-wrenching episode.
