DaddySatyr -> RE: The Polar Vortex is coming to kill us all! (1/6/2014 9:39:55 PM)

The only thing I've noticed specifically about the "Polar Vortex" was a little thing on Yahell that says that this cold weather is caused by warmer temperatures in the arctic. I read it and was still scratching my head, afterward. However, in general, have you noticed that any time it rains heavier than a heavy drizzle, the last couple of years, it's a "super storm"? The township I live in right now was flooded so badly in '72 that Tricky Dicky came for a visit. The house in which I reside was filled with water up to the second floor. Does anybody remember "Irene", late August, a couple of years back? My uncle lives in Bergen County at the conflux of two rivers. He lives, literally, 75-100 feet from the river bank. His basement was wiped out and all the floors on the first floor had to be replaced. The media went nuts. "Irene is the first 'Super Storm' to hit our area in ..." What they neglected to mention was that a dam, 3 miles up river in NY state broke that weekend, during the storm which was what really caused the flooding. I still don't think the shit was coincidence but, the fact that it was ignored does raise the hackles. The media was much more concerned with a return to the glory days of "yellow journalism" with an alarmist bent. I think it continues, today. All we have to do is notice it.
