EdBowie -> RE: Are comedians allowed to be racist? (1/10/2014 10:18:59 AM)

It was implicit in the OP.

Oh man I wondered how long it would be until some schmuck trotted out the "WELL THEN WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO CALL EACH OTHER THAT???" line. It actually took a couple of posts longer than I anticipated!

Ha ha ha ha ha.

Just out of interest: do any of those who've been complaining in other threads about French dhimmitude still feel that a French comedian coming out with aggressively antisemitic material is a form of free speech that needs to be protected if his jew bashing is slanted towards a muslim audience?

What?

Moonhead -> RE: Are comedians allowed to be racist? (1/10/2014 12:40:34 PM)

Down the page a bit: there's a thread about the "caliphation of France" containing lots of bitching about the beastly Algerian immigrants who are (apparently) wrecking the shithole Marseilles by being Muslims.

Oh yeah. That was a terrible article written by a hack opportunist and anybody who buys into it is hopeless.

Either Marseilles, or Marseille, or La Marseillaise. One of the three. The journalist in the OP couldn't even get the name of the city right, which is a clear sign that we should trust everything else he says about that city . . . well, not very much. I mean, Jesus. I've seen journalism before that's so lazy and pisspoor that only the terminally stupid and/or prejudiced would even bother to read it, but that's just taking the piss.

MrBukani -> RE: Are comedians allowed to be racist? (1/10/2014 6:57:55 PM)

When a girl says I don't date white men it's not considered racist but taste. But when she would say I don't like white people, it kinda borders racism.
So how close is the line drawn what is and what not?
What can you say and what not and is the fact somebody doesn't like certain groups racist or not. Or is it only racist when somebody is degrading a group towards others.
I think most people wanna be honest about it, but when your branded because you speak your mind well.
For me it's simple I'm not racist, I hate all people, I make little differences, you're all assholes and bitches to me.

But think of the line for your own fucksake who differentiate.[:D] It could help you to understand your shit opposite better.

EdBowie -> RE: Are comedians allowed to be racist? (1/10/2014 7:33:33 PM)

Self identifying as hating everyone else, makes it kind of hard to marry outside of your kind. And so another bloodline goes down to extinction. (Cue theme from Doctor Who)

People will always say whatever it is that they want to say even if it is only behind closed doors. The line in the sand is ours to draw.

Sure but when you're a comedian it's allright to do it out in the open. Or for that matter a cartoonist has the same privilige.

Doug Stanhope on jews.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDWOP_McMHA

Remember the Mohammed cartoon with the bomb in it's turban?

So in general you concurr it's ok. Be a stand up comedian and tackle all the racial slurs, but don't be serious about it cause that's racist. That's like a double standard dildo DPing.

I believe it is possible that you missed my point completely.

to put it differently, I don't care what other people say, whether I agree with them or not, because I cannot track each person down and tell them what to say and I certainly don't expect them to listen to me.

if I tried to do that it would be pointless, what I can control is what I allow myself to accept, and what I do not.
in my humble opinion,
there are three things that I do not tolerate well:
bigotry, terrorism and pedophiles.

I'm certain that if I really thought about it there's probably a few more things that I could add to that list.
the point is that the choice is yours what you will accept and what you won't.

I've put the subject matter to rest, you are simply dodging that fact with attempts to derail.

On the roof of a very tall building are four men; one is asian, one is mexican, one is black, and the last one is white. The asian walks to the ledge and says, "This is for all my people" and jumps off the roof. Next, the mexican walks to the ledge and also says, "This is for all my people" and then he jumps off the roof. Next is the black guy's turn. The black guy walks to the ledge and says, "This is for all my people" and then throws the white guy off the roof.

What happened to the Jew?

Aha! Racist jokes among ordinary people are considered very racist and not done. But if you go on stage and call yourself a stand up comedian it's ok. Especially when you attack your own race. Then it's all good. But when you make jokes of other races then yourself it's deemed kinda racist on the edge.

I remember a comedian saying once if the truth is to painfull, make them laugh about it and it's all OK.

You have some talent (not much, but some)....go on Linkedin....there's some awesome (comedic) groups there.
