Go back to page 1 of the thread and read posts 10, 12, and 14.

Apparently some are oblivious to the fact that when you say it's perfectly fine to shoot someone just for acting like an asshole, eventually all of us will end up getting shot.

But I suppose there will always be those who believe they themselves would never, ever do anything which could cause them to be regarded as irritating idiots, even if only by accident.

Last week, a couple in Chicago took their 8-month-old into an upscale restaurant because their babysitter had cancelled at the last second. The maitre 'd accepted the explanation and seated them, whereupon the baby starting crying.
The situation was relayed to the social media and that ignited a firestorm of responses, many of which mirror the reactions on this thread, so much so that late last week, the Chicago Tribune published an editorial on the event entitled, "Wahhh! Discuss."

The last paragraph of the editorial is worth repeating:

"Life is full of annoyances.
Most of them are fleeting.
Few of them demand a DEFCON 1 response.
Take a deep breath, everyone.
And order dessert."

The one we saw was with Dustin Hoffman, and he is not English.

Cromwell got one. Henry the 8th did his work from inside the house, mind you.

But a little far afield from the original thought expressed.

I could be wrong but I think you failed to get the irony of his response.

As for me, the irony that I see in this thread is this: that on a thread about literally shooting someone just for being an asshole, several individuals were being . . . well . . .

As for me I have no official position on the guilt or innocence of either party involved nor do I have an opinion on the legitimacy, or lack thereof, of any justifications for this particular episode of violence.
Information on these things is always spotty and unreliable at best. I prefer to let things shake loose a little before I start forming my opinions.

I will say this, however: I am, on general principle, opposed to shooting people just for being assholes. While the more primitive sections of our brains may delight at the thought of giving some annoying, arrogant,
fuck the business end of a gun, the more civilized portions of our brains must concede that assholishness does not rise to an executable offence.

You've caught me out fair and square, Marc. However, in my defence, I should say I didn't study History beyond age 18 and the syllabus started at the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Even after 1815, I suspect that things happened that I never read about.
