Seriously? Let me guess, Obama is to blame for the ongoing volcanic activity in Hawaii? He was the reason for the freezing weather in December? What the fuck else non political do you want to blame on him?

Yeah, he is a fucking moron, but since the rearrangement of Air Force commands in 1992, there has been problems with Air Combat Command. SAC was one of the most disciplined organizations in the military. My father was in SAC for part of his air force career. You could lose a rank grade for a minor screw up. Wing Commanders could lose their command for failing a Readiness Drill, which were never scheduled.

Hell, SAC had the least turn over in the Air Force for most of its history. Men made careers out of SAC.

Status: offline 		Perhaps we should be asking the Joint Chiefs or those that handle US Defense in Congress. That seems to be more their area of responsibility.

Status: offline 		Maybe SAC was something special once upon a time, Jlf, but they sure the hell didn't impress me when I came home from overseas 25 years ago.  My squadron was down nearly 15% on manpower when I reported in, due to a series of drug busts. 

I think it might be the lack of job satisfaction.  They never actually get to do what they are trained for.

Long shifts (like 4 days on then 8 off). And basically constantly ready to unleash destruction on the planet.
But they also said people's attititude toward them had change - they were no longer the heroes of the cold war....

Status: offline 		I'm going to disagree, Boi.  Morale is easily affected by the view of the bottom that comes from the top, and we currently have a CIC that thinks because the military is prepared to die for their country, he can send them off to do that, while he tries to figure out what to do next.  President Obama keeps right on sending troops to Afghanistan to fight battles he not only isn't interested in winning, but doesn't believe can be won.

I think he means that a lot of veterans blame Bush for the Iraq war. Which jives with my anecdotal experience with people I've talked to.
