Status: offline 		Yes, we do. The problem is that the label of "conservative" and the label of "liberal" are too often defined by those who have the largest mouths. Sort of like those problems encountered when submissive women come up against those women who state what a woman should believe in (Jane Velez Mitchell, anyone?) or those people wanting one of their leaders to speak out about a problem within their own race gets someone who want to "represent" for a race (the Rev. Sharpton, anyone?).

Ask any one of the countless gays and lesbians on this site and they will tell you that it wasn't their choice to be this way, they were born that way. God the ignorance of extreme conservatives ceases to amaze me.

I reckon the whole anti gay thing came from Russia. Nice to see that the religious Right in the USA and ex (or even present-day) Russian communists have something in common, isn't it? Gives you a warm glow.

Perhaps God and Karl Marx are good friends in Heaven now, too.

Why not?  Westboro Baptist have a long history of being big supporters of the Democrats, and when their leader was running for office, he did it with a D by his name.  Prop 8 here in California was passed overwhelmingly on the same ballot that saw President Obama take the state in 2008.

I have decided though, that the next time I get an email from a Nigerian about all that money they need help getting, I'm going to attach some gay porn to my reply.

I don't think that one's opinion on gays is the defining characteristic which makes one "liberal" or "conservative." I think a person's economic views might also come into play in terms of defining someone's politics. Then there are also differing views on foreign policy and patriotism, as "conservatives" are generally defined as more hawkish and pro-interventionist (although in practice, this hasn't always been the case).

The Republican Party and it's constituents are at the forefront of bigoted family values campaigns and have spearheading all the laws trying to make gay marriage illegal. This is actually a vital cog in the conservative voting block, and the republican establishment encourages it.

What red state has not banned gay marriage by constitutional amendment?

I might consider myself a conservative in many ways, but I simply cannot square myself with the current nut-job Republican Party in the USA.

Sadly, there's a chunk of the GOP currently convinced that if they don't bend over and lube their arses for the religious right, then no cunt else will vote for them.
If they're wrong, they aren't doing the Republicans any favours at all, apart from possibly luring a few nutjobs in the south away from the blue dogs...
