ORIGINAL: CreativeDominant You know, I just can't resist...Great Unwashed? Wouldn't that be the ones who spend their time in such efforts as "Occupy...wherever" until they get those with money to pay for those who want money without working for it? As for being a RINO....nope. I am fiscally conservative, as stated many times before, and make my own choices when it comes to social issues. I believe in the Bill of Rights, even when it gets convoluted beyond the point of recognition to give a "right" to a certain group. I believe in the death penalty and have no patience for those that state that you would have to be insane to kill another human being...no, you don't. There are those who prove that every day. I believe in a woman's right to choose what she does with the life inside her body...I just wish that SOME of those women would make better choices to begin with. I believe in the idea that a man owes child support for the children he has fathered but, unless proven to be a dangerous influence, also his right to be involved in their lives. I believe in the right of a woman to choose which way she goes with her life...submissive, dominant, switch, vanilla...but I also believe in the individual's right to make that choice without catching flak for it, either from those who say "no woman should ever be in charge of a relationship" (if it is not your relationship, why do you care?) OR from those who believe that too many women have fought for the right of a woman to be independent...blah...vote...be on an equal par with men in terms of jobs...blah...make her own choice of lifestyle (including submission, be it in the biblical sense, the D/s sense or some combination?) to "bow down to a man" (Jane Velez Mitchell vs. Candace Cameron Bure, anyone?). I believe in the strong defense of the United States and yet, am becoming more and more wary of getting involved elsewhere in the world. There's more but for that...~s~...you'd have to sit down and talk to me. CD- What you are describing to me is what we used to call traditional GOP, it is very much what I live around every day of my life..fiscally conservative, socially moderate to libertarian, with a strong idea of national defense.......it was also called the northeast GOP, call it what you wish. The problem is the GOP has become the 'conservative party', and it isn't that, and types like you are called "RINO" rather than what you really are, a moderate republican, depending on what you are talking about. Put it this way, my next door neighbor is a registered GOP, he is involved in local politics, have known him for 40 years..and he shocked me in 2008 when he put out an Obama sign, and again last election. We got to talking, and between the religious right nutjobs, and the tea party types with what he called their 'crackpot economics', and the GOP basically having as policy do nothing to screw Obama as much as possible, to hell with what it means to the country, he had enough. Unfortunately, conservative has come to mean the great unwashed, not hippies or protestors, but backwoods idiots with their rolling in the aisle religion, frightened old people with their 'government, keep your hands off my medicare/no socialized medicine, and those bought and paid for by the Koch Brothers and the like, and those who think Fox News is real, unbiased news.....listen to right wing talk radio, and we can have a conversation why most people think of conservatives as being intolerant hicks and the like..all you have to do is look at John Boehner, one of the most powerful men in government, and how scummy he is......he wouldn't even let the ENDA law the senate passed come up for a vote, do you wonder why especially LGBT people see conservatives as being the enemy? BTW, I respect the distinction, and while you and I could disagree about things, you would be surprised to find that I also agree with you on other things, lot more than you might think:) One note, yes, there are wackjobs in the democrats, but the democrats pulled away from the loony left 30 something years ago..the crazy feminists with their anti porn stand, the kind who would denigrate BD/SM, the radicals like Maxine Waters, are not in charge of the party. Obama is not that much of a radical, Obamacare notwithstanding (which in of itself isn't that radical, since it uses the private health insurance market), the Democrats don't exactly embrace the Occupy Wall street types, they as a party are pretty moderate (which quite frankly, means that a lot of LGBT people aren't exactly all that thrilled with them, for a number of reasons).....but if you look at the Democratic agenda, its planks, none of them are particularly radical, and many of them, ironically, if you looked at a GOP agenda before Reagan, would be remarkably similar.
