So being married helps their loneliness.

That's kind of the point.

Being alone (single, meaning sans relationship) shouldn't necessarily equate being lonely. In My opinion, that's exactly how people who want a relationship to "fix" them screw the whole thing up.

Yeah, I know. Might be an easy thing to say coming from the poly chick. Still, there is some merit in it.

I believe the last study showed that married women do not live as long as single ones. And that married men live longer than their single brothers.

I can say I was not happier when I was married.

i've read that married men don't in fact live longer than their single brothers - it just feels longer for the married ones.

My first boss told me in 1980 that we have 2 choices regarding relationships, boredom or loneliness. I never forgot that. I'll bet that was before Chris Rock was born

I have been very happily single for over 20 years. Yes it was hard being a single Mother, yes it gets lonely sometimes. But marriage wasn't/isn't for me and I thrived after giving it up.

QFT.

Happy and healthy people are far more likely to have happy and healthy relationships with other people who are also happy and healthy.

In relationships it is unfair to look to the other person to complete you. Two incomplete people do not add up to even one complete person, let alone the two complete people that you need.

I am very happy being single but if Mr. Right walks through the door I would be just as happy married. For me if I am happy with who I am then I am happy......just the way it is for me.

it depends on who you are married to of course, but it also depends on who you are and whether you choose to be happy. The greatest husband in the world can be married to Mrs. Grumpbutt... who will be unhappy out of spite.
