I mean compliments about their looks, belly, legs, arms, cock whatever, basically sexualised compliments about themselves? How about compliments about their performance in bed and what wonderful lovers they are, or how good they are in a specific sexual skill?

Do they and what type of compliments do men like to hear?

I've actually been told that men don't like to hear compliments about their body parts, because it brings their thoughts into the arena of how many other men has this woman been with and comparing with and it becomes buzz kill.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 3:15:34 AM)

I do, but I can't speak for everyone.

areallivehuman -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 3:18:00 AM)

Speaking only for myself, yes I appreciate compliments. At my advanced age, it is a given that my partner has been with others, if THAT bothered me, it would be time to throw in the towel.

DebTheBrunette -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 3:18:53 AM)

One has to fan their ego now and again :)

NiteWing2000 -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 3:24:52 AM)

Now really, who does not like getting a compliment? Maybe some sour puss?

Ok, but is it a turn on, or just like, somehow, because she just told you how great you are sexually, or how gorgeous you look to her, you just don't feel as interested in her anymore?

Rule -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 3:51:54 AM)

Fuck off! Bring me a beer and wash my shirt!

Hip Poindexter and his Girlfriend, a One Act Play

GF: Oooh I love your arms. You're so hot.
HP: You're the best.

A moment passes.

HP: What do you mean you like my arms?
GF: Uhh, I mean you have great arms.
HP: Yeah but great arms compared to what?
GF: What do you mean?
HP (chuckling now to show it's no big deal): Well I mean baby, great arms don't exist in a vacuum. For arms to be great, they must be great compared to something else. Right?
GF: Well, yeah. I mean I guess. You have great arms compared to...other arms?
HP (now deadly serious): Other arms on other people? You look at other people's arms?
GF: I mean...what?
HP: Whose?
GF: What?
HP: It's a simple question. Whose arms? Who else's arms have you been checking out?
GF (Flabbergasted silence)
HP: Troy? Is it Troy's arms? I've worked out with Troy I've seen his arms they're fucking ripped how much time do you spend thinking about Troy's arms exactly?
GF: I'm leaving.
HP: YEAH YOU GO YOU GO AND SPEND SOME MORE TIME THINKING ABOUT YOUR NEW BOYFRIEND TROY'S RIPPLING, VEINY ARMS AND THOSE HUGE SLABS OF MUSCLE SURGING AROUND UNDER....awww darling come back I'm sorry I was just being silly....OH YEAH WELL YOU JUST LEAVE THEN!

This is hilarious. I've actually been here before.
Or:
Me: I love your ass
Him: I'm not a piece of meat. You're just with me for sex, aren't you? (only
Half-joking)
Me: No, I can get sex anywhere. I just think you have a nice ass.
Him: Oh, so you want to go have sex somewhere else?
Me: Uhg! No, I meant if it was all about the sex, I certainly wouldn't be in a committed relationship with you. I love you and the sex is a perk.
Him: Sure, change your story now.

(a few days pass)

Him: You never compliment me.
Me: Seriously?
Him: Yeah. I mean, I tell you you're sexy.
Me: (with a smirk) Are you calling me a piece of meat?

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 4:57:31 AM)

Very funny but unfortunately sometimes very true.

I think everyone likes compliments, some like them more than others and some need them, at least according to the "Love Languages" author.

Milesnmiles -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 5:31:00 AM)

I like compliments, just make sure you are sincere. It is when a men catches insincerity in the compliment that he begins to wonder.........
Wait a minute, what is she trying to pull?
;-)

DebTheBrunette -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 5:41:49 AM)

I'm always sincere in my insincerity

I don't give compliments for the sake of it, I only compliment when I am really awed by something. I don't tell every man they are gorgeous for example. Unless he really took my breath away, so anyway, I realise it does vary from guy to guy, but I don't think men like hearing it as much as I enjoy hearing it coming from a man, complimenting me.

[sm=yourock.gif] Lol, this is exactly what I'm talking about!

DaddySatyr -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 6:32:10 AM)

I haven't believed myself to be (anything close to) a good-looking guy in about 30 years (I'm not like wine). So, if a lady compliments my looks, I generally tend to mis-trust her. I figure she's just buttering me up.

Other compliments are well appreciated, though. I like to think that some of them are even objective.

Maybe I am chinese and I don't know what a good looking caucasian dude is suppose to be, but from your picture, you're pretty hot to me :)

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 6:40:06 AM)

If someone gives me a compliment, my first reaction is "what the fuck are they after?".
Nobody gives a compliment for nothing - there's always an ulterior motive.

Meh!

I squeeze his arms, and make stupid comments about 'pythons', I chase him around the house when he is trying to get dressed, and yell about his butt. If sex is unreasonably mindblowing, I tell him- (loudly).

I brag to my friends about him, and show his creations off on Facebook when he produces something neat in the shop.

He's never seemed put off by it, although I would think that someone that becomes jealous of an imagined past lover when you just complemented them, must be a very insecure person to begin with.

Pic related. Look at this fucking kitchen table. LOOK AT IT.

needlesandpins -> RE: Do men like compliments? (1/23/2014 6:54:23 AM)

I'll compliment as I see it, and I can't be insincere about it either. I never once told my ex I thought he was gorgeous, because I didn't think he was. he wasn't fugly, but he wasn't my idea of gorgeous. he did have other redeeming qualities, and so I complimented him for those. I also loved him immensely. I do think my playmate is gorgeous though, and I tell him so.

compliments are a strange thing for me. from someone I'm not involved with; they are nice and all that, but I don't really care what they think of me. from someone I am involved with; it's not that I think I'm all that, and so I expect to be complimented, or want to be. however, on the other side of it I do want to know that they me a turn on, but I want it to be more than that too. it's lovely if they like elements of me, or think whatever of me, but I want to be wanted as a whole. the fact is though that while the compliment may be given, and I'd be happy to hear it, I'm probably going to think they are nuts for thinking that way of me whilst being thrilled too lol

what I do hate in a guy is someone that needs flattery from others besides me. if I am the primary in your life, and I think you're the shiz, why the fuck do you need some stranger to flatter you? I've also had pms from guys asking me to look at their photos, and rate them. seriously dude, you must be one sad puppy to do that crap. even if I had wanted to be looking at some strangers profile, and photos, you've just dropped right down in my estimations. When I was looking for someone I'd automatically dismiss anyone that asked to have their photos rated in their profile. I'm all for giving a compliment where I think it's due, but I'm not doing it because you asked me to.
