The GOP have decided on Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers to give the GOP's rebuttal speech after the President's State of the Union Speech. I, like most of you have never heard of this women. An that maybe why the GOP has pushed her into this position. In the silly attempt to get people to talk about her and not what she or the President said in their speeches. Or someone that's expendable since after all....she's just a woman....and we all know how the GOP's views women, right?

Source 1

Source 2

This is a person with 'strong' conservative values. Yes, because its well known that conservative Republican/Tea Partiers like women that are strong and force their husbands to be the woman instead, right? Further, this woman has a child with a very serious condition. Kind of like Sarah Palin, whom the GOP once thought would help the GOP ticket back in 2008. But it gets better!

She went to Pensacola Christian College! A 'school' for Christians. I went to the University of West Florida (UWF) just down the street. Anyone on my campus looked down on anyone on that campus. The males were expected to obtain a degree in four years, the women, expected to be married (the degree was an after thought). The school is so strict that its laughable that anyone there picks up on 'critical thinking skills'. For example, those of us at UWF once got hold of their 'demerit' book. If a student acquired 'X' demerits they would be thrown out of school without the ability to transfer course credit to another school. That it only took 14 demerits to kill someone: More than 3 people in a room (a party is a no-no), open window, music louder then a whisper, alcohol, and keeping the door closed (because that would hide the vibrations from the loud music from the RA down the hall, right?).

For the males on this campus, they had to follow all the rules, INCLUDING the walkways. They were color coated: Blue for boys and Pink for girls. A male would gain demerits for walking with a women that was not A ) Directed related by blood or B ) Married to him. He could not talk, hold hands, hug, kiss, or practice BDSM with them. Unlike the guys, the women had all the same restrictions...PLUS....they had to sign a book in their dorm when they wished to leave campus. They had to state who they were going with, where, how long, the nature of travel, and when they will be back. After 10PM, women were not allowed out of their dorms. Both sexes were given a strict dress code for *ALL* times of the day. And they could be spotted a mile away as 'just sticking out in a crowd' by the way they dress.

So 'yes', I ask the serious question of whether this woman can think for herself, or is just a puppet? Since anyone doing a rebuttal to a President's speech already has the odds against them (creating a speech on the fly for example), but against President Obama, whom by nature is effectively a college professor? Who has had weeks if not months, with many helping to craft his speech? What can she possible offer the GOP besides as a sacrifice to the GOP Gods?

What can she possible offer the American People in all honesty? Her party is the on that set the circumstances for the failing of the economy in 2007. Created that huge US Deficit and Debt we all 'enjoy'. Lied to get the nation into a war to find 'WMDs' that didn't exist, and has been hellish against anything the President and Democrats have done to get this nation back on its feet. Not to mention how that party treats all the minority groups in America. Or their view on the poor and middle class.

Not sure if I'll watch the GOP rebuttal speech.

Going with the experienced intellectual heavy weight to follow in the footsteps or Reagan, Palin, Bachman, Quayle, and Bush.

That is a remarkably naive and irritating thing to say.

If you haven't heard of Rodgers then you don't really follow politics. She's a rising star in the GOP. She's quick, photogenic, charming to her beloved base, unctuous, glibly dishonest and capable of being quite vicious at the drop of a hat. If she stays within herself and delivers the sort of rebuttal she's capable of delivering she will be endlessly irksome to loyal Democrats and bedazzling to loyal Republicans. She is a very good party player and she will give both tribes exactly what they want. The Democrats will have a new villain to jeer at and the Republicans will have a new hero to cheer for. It will be like the introduction of a new superstar to the WWF of the mid 80s.

And we call that democracy! Three cheers for democracy!

Are you gonna quit pussyfooting around and just plainly say that she will drool to the beat of a different drummer, or no?

I think she will say what the GOP base wants to hear and that she'll say it in a way they find pleasing. She will say exactly what the Democratic base loves getting angry about and she will say it in a way that will get them angry. Grrr.

Both tribes will have great fun.

Asking them about their own is a non starter, they hate everyone (remember the primaries) but hate Obama the most. Mitt's already been forgotten.

This is a party and group that gets very little juice supporting anything that shows a positive direction.

She's an attempt at improvement which shouldn't be very difficult given most of the rebutters of the past. Her relatively thin resume is supposed to be a problem with repubs and independents. I don't really care anymore...rarely do the state of the union and rebuttal bring us anything new.

Actually that will be one of three responses the Republicans will put on.

Mike Lee will give the fucking insane caucus response and Rand Paul will give one just because he wants to.

Well now, there is a big surprise. You hates her. She isn't like you. We get it.

I'll watch the speeches. I'm not familiar with the Congresswoman from Washington, but it would be hard to limbo under the bar Bobby Jindal set.

Haters are going to hate. If nothing else, she can always be attacked for her mothering choices, or maybe an awful dress.

The State of the Union Address will, by necessity, be a lot of outright lies and deceptive half-truths. Oblamer isn't about to change his leadership style after 5 years and start being honest about his lack of leadership or his many military and economic failures. He won't discuss his failed foreign policy. It will be a fairly predictable affair.

I predict he will blame Republicans for at least 2 things. At least one of those things will be about an upcoming issue (probably immigration) and he will call on Republicans to "compromise" on the issue by caving into every Democratic demand. The lamestream media is describing it as "reaching out to Republicans".

He will talk about healthcare. It will be downplayed, but he will spend at least 3 minutes encouraging people to go to the website and sign up for Unaffordable Care Act insurance policies. Something that will go uncommented on by either side is that if it was half as successful as he pretends it to be then he wouldn't have to beg people to sign up for it 4 months after the enrollment period started.

He will not mention that Jay Carney's attempt to look manly by growing a mangy beard is still the source of many conservative jokes. Nor will he mention that Iran punked John Kerry. If he mentions gay marriage and/or legalized pot he will not mention that he has violated his oath of office by not enforcing federal laws.

Who rebutts the State of the Union is irrelevant. She is as qualified to respond to the SotU as that moron was to be President.

Well now that we've seen a writing sample from a UWF alum, I have to admit that PCC must be pretty bad if it's worse.

You know the most interesting thing about this post?
If you change just one word in the first paragraph (Oblamer) the paragraph remains clear and even more understandable:

"The State of the Union Address will, by necessity, be a lot of outright lies and deceptive half-truths. Bush isn't about to change his leadership style after 5 years and start being honest about his lack of leadership or his many military and economic failures. He won't discuss his failed foreign policy. It will be a fairly predictable affair."

An there you go again, assuming huge amounts of knowledge without a clue of the facts, in order to slam someone. An event unrelated to my schooling forced me to go else where for my degree program.

It must have taken you a while to develop that insult. Unfortunately, you wasted your time! Try next time to STICK TO THE TOPIC.

Actually, most of those that went to PCC back when I was at UWF, were home schooled. The culture and climate would be perfect for Christian homeschoolers: Strict rules, not allowed to think for themselves, and obedience to authority. In addition, each semester they are required to have one religious class as part of their 15 hours. Those people are PSYCHOTIC!
