Alright I'm not medically trained, but since no one else is tackling this I will tell you it as I understand it. No citations for this, though you could probably find some studies if you really wanted to know. I found this study but I'm not about to spend $40 on the full text, so just linking in case anyone is desperately curious.

Up until a certain stage of fetal development, males and females are essentially the same. There is the potential for breast tissue to develop in males, and indeed it does happen to some boys during puberty and/or as a result of various medications which mess with the hormones.

In order to lactate, you need a hormone called prolactin. Even males have some prolactin in their bodies in low levels, but not generally enough to trigger lactation. High levels of prolactin are related to low levels of testosterone and can be caused by liver damage (the liver being unable to filter out excess levels of hormones such as oestrogen), pituitary tumours and some medications, as well as the aforementioned puberty issue some unlucky boys get.

Stimulating the nipple can increase prolactin. It's one of a number of factors in keeping a milk supply in breastfeeding women - constant reminders to the body that it is still needed. In most cases though, even with the stimulation, men won't be able to lactate without one of the other factors causing overall hormonal imbalances. Their breast tissue needs a big boost of hormones for development which women get during puberty and again during pregnancy, so men are at a huge disadvantage. If you were able to induce lactation just by nipple stimulation, it might be something to see a doctor about, since high levels of prolactin can cause loss of sexual function.

...and loss of desire. So the HNG's version of the hucow is at odds with the reality of it. How many times have actual lactating women come this forum to crow about how horny they are?

I had several acres when I lived in Washington and I kept goats rather than mow a pasture. My girl at the time decided to make a project of it. We milked them, pasteurized the milk, and made yogurt and cheese a bit. Amazing at the things you can get on the cheap from eBay or Craigslist. <grin>

And, if the teenager cranks up the vacuum thinking it will milk the goat faster, you get blood as well as milk and this can easily lead to a bacterial infection of the teat. Big purple swollen goat teats. And, if you weren't careful while sterilizing the milking tube, you could get a blood blister on your hand. (flushing was done at max draw, not operating pressure)

Now, I would not be willing to use an industrial milking machine on a species it was not designed for as the physical parameters are not quite right and can cause unintended damage very easily.

To reiterate my position on the subject of human use of goat milkers a bit more clearly than my original statement.
If you want to lactate; invest in a human designed breast pump. If you just want some occasional vacuum stimulation, even to the extreme, you can use a breast cup for a breast pump attached to a vacuum brake bleeder pump you can get on the cheap from anywhere that sells automotive tools. ($9.95 from Harbor Freight Tools for the cheap one)

The problem with porn is that they never show the injury or after effects of what happens. (Example- they show a woman getting sounds used on her but not the urinary tract infection she gets later.)

In the same sense I am sure they would show a woman being pumped by a goat milking machine but not the breast tissue damage, mastitis, necrosis and abscess that it would cause her afterward. Studies say that between 10% - 33% of breastfeeding mothers get this usually from bad suction on electric pumps (designed for humans). As a former breast feeding mother and a former lactation consultant I know nothing about goat milking machines but I know a lot about the damage that can be caused by electric human breast pumps. It stand to reason that a goat milking machine would cause even more damage.

It is possible to buff your nails with a 10,000 rpm industrial die grinder. But the potential for serious physical harm with one wrong move makes it a bit more of a risk than you would want. Unless you are having a Dolcett moment and intend on completely removing the fingernails.
