tourists, especially the ones that will stop on the sidewalks while all of us who live here just want to get to where we're going. No matter how many times you say "excuse me", they stand there like they don't even hear you and then you literally have to shove your way past them.

Are you telling Me that when LP and I get to your neck of the woods I have to say "excuse Me" first. In NY we just push our way past them and yell get the fuck out of the way. hmmmmm

Then there is the person ( Usually a woman I hate to say) who seems surprised that she has got to pay for her purchases and once everything has been through the check-out, she then begins scratching around in a purse the size of a large barracks-bag for her credit card. Having found that, she has to remember her PIN, or her name, or her head, or something......................meanwhile the queue behind her is halfway around the store

Drivers that have to cut off someone on every exit I guess because where they are going is soooo important.

But I'm a friendly driver. I smile when I flip them off.

DominantWoman65 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:11:38 PM)

Or said woman says "Oh, I forgot something, I'll be right back" as she dashes off to get the item making the wait and the line grow longer and longer.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:17:59 PM)

Gods................I had one of those in the supermarket today DM...............Luckily she didn't notice me begin a tear in the bottom of one of the polythene bags while she was gone

Dvr22999874 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:19:18 PM)

Yeah, I know......I'm just a kid (juvenile delinquent) at heart who never grew up

DominantWoman65 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:24:21 PM)

Ha Ha Ha, I would have done the same thing. Sometimes juvenile behavior is called for. I have a cure all for men who stare at me while at a red light. I look them dead in the eye and stick my finger up my nose.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:28:38 PM)

I had a mate who used to do that..............he had lost the top joint of his middle finger so it was VERY effective. He was a sales manager and always reckoned that if any salesman talking to him lost his train of thought whenever he did that, he wasn't going to be much of a salesman. Very disconcerting.

DesFIP -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:33:05 PM)

Speed limit in town is 30, out past the village limits it goes up to 55. What I really hate are people who tail gate in town, and then never speed up when they get across the bridge. Had one of these ahead of us today, kept expecting him to lose it on the icy bits and hit the car ahead of him. And then we got stuck behind him going 20 miles under the speed limit.

DominantWoman65 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:34:09 PM)

I'm not missing any digits but I get the effect I was hoping for. I find staring at someone ruder than a finger up the nose.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/26/2014 9:38:39 PM)

Don't you love motorists who sit in the middle lane (straight ahead) beside you (right turn) and then when the lights change, with no warning, turn right and expect you to give way, then lean on the horn if you don't.
Remember, we drive on the left here

What can I say. I try to be polite the first time. Being I didn't grow up in a city and all. Now if you still don't move after I've politely asked you, don't be surprised if I push you out of my way.

What's even worse is when they pull out a checkbook. Yes some still use those, like my sister and a friend of mine because they are afraid of check cards. <eye starts to twitch at the thought of how annoying it is!>

I asked one woman who did that if she would like some fresh-picked mangoes.
She said "they aren't in season".
I said "They will be by the time you finish poncing around like an old moll"
The people behind me cracked up
Security asked me to leave the store

Kitsuneboi -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/27/2014 12:13:03 AM)

Oh I hate it when people are so down on themselves. Also, I hate those who can point out flaws, but cannot offer any kind of suggestion to help the situation. I also hate negative people who cannot even find one nice thing to say. Oh oh oh, and I hate it when people try to pass of the word pure to make them sound like some godly person. Also what annoys me are sexist people and people who cuss too often! Its okay to say 'golly' or 'fiddlesticks' no need to bring out the big bad words. ^w^ And I dislike people who do handshakes or fistbumps, because they expect me to know what comes after, but I never know what to do. But most of all, the thing that truly annoys me the most, is when people type or text 'wat' instead of 'what'. If its just a mistake then fine, but when you do it all of the time it kills me to read it!

ShaharThorne -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/27/2014 2:02:05 AM)

People not reading my profile and writing to me anyway (last one is married so he got let down gently)...not wanting to cook (I sweettalk Mom to making me bacon and eggs later)...having to do dishes because the dishwasher is broke and I have to stand up for over 30 minutes, causing severe back pain (Thank Goddess for Norco)...all these cold fronts hitting the US (I would be glad to send you a few, Angel)...belly flops from my youngest niece Baby M, if I don't prepare myself, they will hurt.

ThePrincessKali -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/27/2014 3:19:37 AM)

I agree with the OP in that I hate being called pet names. Personally I find it especially annoying when guys that are complete strangers refer to me as, "babe, hun, sweetie, sweetheart, etc." I find it to be disrespectful.

DaddySatyr -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/27/2014 3:32:04 AM)

6) People that call me "Mike" after I have responded to a post about things that annoy us and that is the first thing I mention.

ShaharThorne -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/27/2014 3:36:31 AM)

LW, Mom's bank recently issued out check cards where a portion of the amount spent goes to the school the kids go to. My check card is with another bank. Once in a while, Mom will write a check (especially if the bread store does not have their card machine fixed and I can't use my card or SNAP).

kiwisub12 -> RE: General Annoyances? (1/27/2014 3:56:51 AM)

This is oddly specific, but - it annoys the shit out of me that the Pope wants women to be more prominent in the church- but refuses to make anything official - like ordain women as deacons. That way they could preach, take communion to shut ins, and do lots of stuff with a real live title.
As it is , he commends women for their sensitivity and empathy, and lauds all the stuff they do- but denies the lowest official rung in the church hierarchy to us.

All of which tends to make him full of hot air.

Don't get me wrong - this is the best pope we have had in ages, but he is making nice noises with no substance to back it up.
