I am beginning to regret moving here to the Yukon. I'm thinking about moving back to New York.

Wait a second . . .

Aw shit!

So are you coping with the cold?

(and if it is not cold where you live: )

It reached a whopping 8 degrees today where I'm at! Much better (not really) than the -8 this morning.
Lucky me, I work from home so I get to stay inside and work in front of a fire. Plus, I'm fully stocked with coffee and cocoa.

We picked a horrible time to move back. Kansas isn't much warmer, but 10-20 degrees warmer certainly sounds wonderful right about now.

It is 23 degrees right now... in Alaska!!!!! No complaints... so much better then the usual -30 with a wind chill of -70 (We live right by the mountains at the end of the ALCAN, and the winds can get a tad breezy here).

I'm not coping well at all! I'm fucking freezing! Unfortunately I had to walk back 5 blocks to work after a meeting elsewhere and it's now 10:30 at night and I still can't friggin warm up. My legs feel like they are frostbitten.

I even turned up the heat and it's not working.

I'm ready for summer! Fuck winter!

No, I just woke up this morning thinking I was in the Yukon.

According to the weather report I just watched I'll probably be thinking the same thing tomorrow morning.

THE CITY? I didn't say anything about a city? Sigh. Once again I need to remind people that New York is not just a city . . . it's a whole state and I
actually live on the other end, near Niagara Falls.

By the way, did anyone ever notice that a starting a cold vehicle on a single digit morning kind of sounds like a constipated person finally getting that stubborn turd out?

Errrrruh. Errrruuuuh. ERRRRUUUUUHHHHYYYYYEEEEEAAAAAH!!!!!!

Supposed to get up to 72 for the high tomorrow, after an overnight low of 41. There might be a little morning frost by the weekend, as the forecast is for colder weather...

Ohhhhh... so you live in the other NY. I was born and raised right outside of NYC on LI, and growing up NY consisted of anything below White Plains . GO BILLS????? I mean you are just about a Buffalonian since you actually live near the falls (I crack Myself up, really I do). Got to admit one of the good things about living in Alaska (temporarily, very temporarily) is you have oil, radiator and battery heaters and you plug the vehicle in... Starts right up. I wish I had known about this concept when I did live in NY.

I took one as soon as I got home from work. Didn't work. I'm finally starting to warm up now as I'm snuggled up in bed in the warm blankets and the heat staying in my bedroom with the doors closed.

I don't wanna go to work in the morning! It's tooooo cccoooolllldddd!!!

Careful Heretic, them's fightin' words around here. I started a weather thread a few weeks ago called "it's too damn hot" (San Luis Obispo captured the highest temp in the nation award at 91 degrees). Some people said they didn't like me very much, others pulled no punches and said they hate me. Just like the model on TV says "don't hate me because I'm beautiful", I said "don't hate me 'cuz I live in a place with great weather!"

Just got home. Four degrees here, about fourteen miles from Buffalo. I was born and raised in South Buffalo, and this is starting to get really old. Fortunately, it's going to warm up to about thirty or so in a few days, so I'm breaking out my cargo shorts and sunblock, maybe hitting the beach or just catching some rays.

It's way too late to worry about that in my case.

Yeah, I'm not too far from Buffalo either but since most people haven't heard of Lockport I tell them that I'm near Niagara Falls. If I tell them that I live near Buffalo they look at me with a sad face, like they pity me (I'm not sure why, Buffalo, on the whole, is a rather nice place).

If I tell people that I live near Niagara Falls they think it's cool (and it is kind of cool).
