ORIGINAL: mummyman321 Stef's comment is 100% correct. Flame does not sterilize equipment. What is does do is kill surface organisms but it does not sterilize. It will not kill some single cell organisms or protein chains. You need to learn there are more bugs than just bacterial and viruses. Prions are the real nastys. He posted pictures of someone in a lab, I think that trumps your logic. Yes, I know I feel woefully inadequate I did not post any pictures. I wondered if he read the links he actual posted? Here is except from one of his links on sterilizing by flame. "(3) Sterilizing by Flaming The flame from a gas burner effectively sterilizes small glass or metal objects, such as inoculating loops, but one must avoid "frying" the yeast by contact with objects heated in a flame. Dip glass spreaders in alcohol and then use the flame to ignite the alcohol. Place metal tools such as loops in the flame until they are red hot. Cool hot tools by touching them to the agar or inside of a sterile glass tube. However, since flames are dangerous this method can and should be avoided whenever possible. We have found that flaming is really only necessary to sterilize inoculating loops and small instruments. We have not been able to demonstrate any value in flaming the openings of tubes, bottles, or flasks in these experiments." The lab procedure says outright flaming does not work on large objects. Hmmm that is in direct contradiction to his original post of flame kills all. The sterilization techniques he posted are great for lab experiments in flasks, test tubes and petri dishes. That I will agree with. Sterilization of medical instruments inserted into the body is whole other ball game. Autoclaving is the only recommend procedure to sterilize medical instruments. Anyone who has attended medical school knows this. Getting back to the OP's original question of using pressure cooker to sterilize. The question I have is: are you using the same sounds on different people? If so, Autoclave. If using the sounds on only the same person I would be okay using a pressure cooker (with the proper rating) with longer times for sterilizing versus an Autoclave. I would also recommend to see if there are any BDSM group in your area? And do they have Demo's or classes? Sterilization is a common subject that comes up and many classes are generally offered. If this is an area you really want to play in, I have to encourage you to know all the safety issues associated with that play.
