I've spent enough time "alone" so that I can be happy with or without. I've actually been very lucky when it comes to the people I have met in person.....I've never been stood up (yet!) But I'm just laughing at this "blast from my past" that STILL has my phone number....<sigh>

Ha, my entire life I have had blasts from past who just resurface. They are always the wrong ones.

I find the cool smart men invariably live far away.

Whenever I get an interesting email, I know he is not close.

I think it's luck, being true to what you want, stopping indulging your penchant for whatever you are drawn to that makes someone "the wrong one", and being happy and accepting to be alone with your badass self, rather than lonely with someone not worthy of you.

I'd treat it as if searching for a job.
While the Internet has resources available for a job search, your best bet it getting one through networking.
That's how I've always found a job and a partner.

I've been fortunate. I have had one long distance "friendship" on here, could have been much much more if not for the distance. It wasn't the expense of seeing each other, more the time constraints of work and flying.

The man I'm currently talking to only lives two hours away, I feel like that is fairly local. I've never really limited myself by distance on here, I could pack up and move if the right person came along, and the stars aligned, fairly easily. I do see how much more complicated it would be once you're older and more established, would be terribly frustrating.

My theory is that the "man of my dreams" is probably living in the Australian outback with no cell phone and no internet service.

HaI I love this. I'm a home body and one day I was pondering my good match and where she might be... Then I realized that if she is a good match for me, she's a home body, and at home wondering the same shit.

Jus sayin
Exiled

LOL....I'm so sorry Exiled.....but I know how you feel. I'm a homebody myself....but mostly because it's a real challenge to not be one.

Possibly... But we have to test your resolve. Let's see how you deal with THIS!

(Fantasy wank on) As she lies bound, helpless, fearful... Anticipating being my meat puppet as I lube my fist with KY..... Fuck it... I can't keep going, it's a horrible marriage of squick and just laughing too hard to complete the wank.

Or in parts of the country where I'd never want to go live.

Dammit, I want to know why there are so many suitable-sounding male subs in the UK? (It's a clusterfeck.)

Possibly your problem is down to the very low numbers of people who are into BDSM at the level of the average poster here. Face it, we are the sexual Amish.

I live now with my wife (I relocated) in a part of the world that is very, very unpopulated. Such people as are even about tend toward the elderly, the extremely uneducated, and the lord-lovin'. The nearest city (not a big city) is a few hours away. If my wife died, that would pretty much be the end of my kink life unless I moved.

On the local Craig's List, I do see the odd kink listing, but not from anyone I'd ever consider contacting.

That would make me a sexual Quaker, then (since there are less Amish than there are Mennonites, I imagine, I couldn't use that reference).

My BDSM level is so low, I'd need a trampoline to reach average. This, combined with greater emphasis on D/s makes for slim pickings.

Trust me, I'd never get so desperate as to use Craig's List. Might as well go pick up random strangers at the nearest bar, which needless to say, isn't my style.
