I wouldn't go nearly so far as to say inherently evil, but any religion that prohibits dogs as pets is a bit fucked up, in my opinion.

Banning it? No. Hell no. Fuck no. Freedom of belief is a fundamental human liberty. What sort of authoritarian piece of shit would think that's a way to peace? Even most liberals aren't that stupid.

Status: offline 		Many liberals tolerate religion Heretic, others do hate it because of the horrors religions have produced over the years (the actions of the right wing extremists for example). I consider myself in the tolerant side, because despite the many downfalls of religion, it also provides people hope, a sense of community and belonging, and a kind assurance that science admittedly doesn't provide. Sure, any one given religion is unlikely to be true, and they may all be wrong, who knows. But a lot of people are very fearful of the unknown, which is why religion can be a very good thing as it keeps them happy and sane in a lot of cases. Some people just can't handle the reality of our world, it's too big and scary.

But I agree that freedom of and from religion is a fundamental human right, and no one, liberal or conservative, can take that away or should take that away.

In what way, exactly, do you think religious oppression is a "peaceful existence". To the best of my admittedly limited historical knowledge such things usually lead to bloodshed.

In this context, to suggest that Islam is inherently evil would carry the implication that the West is inherently good.

I have no illusions about Islam (either in the positive or the negative), but I also don't have any illusions about the West either.

To be sure, the West has had a long-standing rivalry with the Muslim world that goes back more than a thousand years, and the effects and consequences of this rivalry have been felt all over the world. But it's also true that the nations of Christian Europe have had rivalries with each other, and at times, some European nations viewed Muslims as allies against other European nations.

Whatever "evil" threat Islam may pose to the West today, it's largely a threat that we in the West created ourselves (something that we're prone to doing). That's why I might take issue with statements that "Islam is evil," since such statements consistently fail to acknowledge the West's own complicity in nurturing and stoking this supposed "evil" which threatens us. It presents a false perception of the current state of the world and the history which led us to this point.

Just look, Bemy, at how normal folks feel about America`s jerk-offs pushing their religion on them.....They are very un-popular.....But like most jerk-offs....they just keep coming....


The main difference between radical Islam and our christo-fascists.....and their various supporters.....is the body count....


Our Christo-fascist haven`t killed quite as many people .......recently at least......as their Muslim counter-parts.....but there`s not much else that differentiates them
