50ish year old Sunbeam Mixmaster.

Cord is a bit loose. Otherwise, good.

I want the green apple, too! This month, anyway, I tend to change my mind with the wind, lol. I'm also fond of the cobalt blue, the gloss cinnamon and the new persimmon. I've seen the plain white ones at Walmart for as little as $179 around the holidays.

I got mine back around Black Friday from Kohl's. After 30% coupon, $30 rebate, $45 in Kohl's cash and $16 back from ebates, I paid $76.

Oh, and I love mine! :)

I rarely bake but have wanted one of those fo so long! I like the dough attachment because I just don't have the strength to mix bread dough. Of course I want a bread maker too, lol.

I had both and I never use my bread machine. It comes out hard and sticks to the blade.

I have a bread machine I rarely use as well.
I bake as part of my job and I really only use it when I'm feeling very lazy- I much prefer to make bread myself. I do like the jam settings on mine though! Cause I HATE making jam myself.

I inherited my Mother's Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I think its the classic series, red in color. It is every bit of 30+ years old. I have had it for the last 10. When in the USA I used it regularly. Made every thing from cake/pies to using attachments for making sausage and beef jerky.

I have my grandmothers Sunbeam from the 1950s. But my kids thought I needed a new one a few years back and got me the KitchenAid Pro Line Series 7-Qt Bowl from Overstock. They paid less than 1/2 the retail. As good as the new one is, I still use my grandmothers for her cake recipes.

edited to add a few left out words

I got my Kitchen Aid mixer about 15 years ago, and loved it. I used it all the time. It was heavy but worth its weight. Then two years ago I moved, and the movers dropped it on its head. I didn't notice until a few weeks later. I tried it to see if it still worked even with the dent, but it made a horrible noise and gave off a hot, electrical smell. I had to dispose of it, and I've yet to replace it. I miss it though, and would have replaced it by now if not for the price.

I'm thinking of making a huge purchase for myself!
A Kitchen Aid mixer!
If you own one I'd like some feedback:

What model?
What size?
How has it lasted?
We are still renters, so it will likely be moving with us a few times, is yours fairly easy to move?

A KitchenAid mixer is relatively easy to move,

Unlike a refrigerator or a couch, it has somewhat unique characteristics.

(The most important of many of the key characteristics is....it's quite small).

25 year old 5 qt. It's a workhorse. However it doesn't have the tilt head. If I was buying a new one, I'd want the tilt head to make it easier to add ingredients. As it is now, I usually stop it, lower the bowl, add an ingredient and then turn it back on.

I brought one a few years ago...professional grade, in a black color. Bo has it and though he claims he never uses it, I caught him making bread with it. Lizard uses it for making cookies. It has been used heavily and I plan to buy the pasta attachment for Bo (he loves making his own pasta) for Christmas.

If the Sunbeam has a dough hook, it is great. I got the Kitchen Aid though.

It's awesome for bread dough. The hooks are the long squiggly kind, and since mine is old, the bowls are HEAVY porcelain.

The one I'm looking at is the 350 watt with two bread hooks.

I think that would work well. The dough hooks are the best. Try and stay away from stainless steel bowls, though. They are a bit light for heavy bread dough imo.

It comes with a stainless steel bowl, but I have a large heavy porcelain bowl meant for bread making.

Not sure it will fit, but I *have* bowls.
