You remind me of one of my mother's friends that she went to school with. Recently retired from teaching and just got married.

Honest mistake...CP from now on.

I love my Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer - I got it on a payment plan from QVC when they had a special free attachment and I love it - I love it - I love it. I chose the ice cream maker attachment - which I have used only a few times. I have the big one - 6 1/2 quarts I think and it is made well, will go through mixing the cookie dough without slowing down in the least. You will be happy with it. I highly recommend it.

I've never thought of putting another bowl on the base. I have no problem with the stainless for bread.

And my favorite, okay only, attachment? The fruit and vegetable strainer. Great for apple butter and for tomato/spaghetti sauce. Removes seeds and peels. I bought that three years ago and officially retired my ex's grandmother's food mill which required that you pump iron to push the screens into place.

It removes the peels for you?!

That alone would be game changing for me. I HATE peeling tomatoes.
And we want the pasta attachments later...cause my man thinks he's going to be really good at making pasta when we get around to it

I guess I have to bite the bullet and commit eventually haha.

Shifty, oh yeah. I quarter the apples or tomatoes and onions, cook down and then run through the strainer. Good stuff comes out the front and these little squiggles of peels and seeds come out a hole in the rear.

Disassembling and cleaning it is a pain, and it's worse than refolding a map to get it all back in the box till next year. But worth it no matter what.

FR an update.

I bought the Sunbeam 350 watt. It did the bread dough fast and easy, the only issue being having to constantly remove the dough from the hook, as I was kneading a small amount (only enough for one loaf).

When I go to two loaves, it should be fine. It's clear I need to buy the smaller size bowl.

BTW: I'm not sure who recommended the King Arthur's WHITE whole wheat flour, but I thank you ! That really does make the best whole wheat bread I have tasted.

For the first time in 15 years I have Himself eating homemade 100% whole wheat bread. The other whole what was just too gritty for him.

So thanks a lot everyone, your input was invaluable. I am so happy I can go back to being a bread maker.

My mother's stand mixer is at least 40 years old.

This

Though about 10 years ago my godfather had to replace something on it....as the motor was not working anymore....so my dad got it fixed in the end with his help...

I will also purchase one this year or next year and can't wait for it....as I won't waste any money on any other cheap shit anymore (bought a small one from a different brand about 15 years ago...before I valued how awesome kitchenaid is...)

2 years ago I tried telling mum that her kitchenaid would actually be mine....though with no success

I actually got one!
Our restaurant upgraded to a bigger one (it was needed) so I ended up buying the old one from my parents!

I love it. And with all the money I saved on the mixer- I can buy all the fun attachments!

Chatte :
spray the dough hook with nonstick spray before using...works like a charm.

The meat grinder attachment works very well for making venison sausage.

The Kitchenaid is one of the few appliances made today that actually seems to be made to last. Your grandchildren could inherit a perfectly good mixer.

My old bf bought a KitchenAid off eBay secondhand and it was Avocado Green so I'm sure it was about 40 years old.....works like a charm. What's cool is that the newer accessories still fit.

My daughter tried that when she and a friend got an apartment. It didn't work any better on me than on your mother.
