Pick the reboot cast for the following movies:

Tank Girl

Rocky horror picture show

Little shop of horrors

MASH

Space Balls

Captain Blood (for the old geezer critters like me)

Crimson Pirate.

Starman

Starman sucked - and I'm a sci-fi geek.

Little Shop of Horrors has already been remade with Rick Moranis in 1986. That was after the Broadway play which was after the 1960 Roger Corman film.

Tank Girl was perfect. Remaking that would be as stupid as remaking Robocop.

I could see Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Helena Bonham Carter as Magenta in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

And Tim Burton as Riff Raff.

jlf1961 -> RE: In the era of movie reboots, consider the following: (2/27/2014 8:17:20 PM)

Here are my thoughts:

Tank Girl: Amanda Heard as Tank Girl, and Emma Stone as Jet

Rocky Horror : Johnny Depp as Frankenfurter.

Little Shop of Horrors Cant really think of any.

Mash: The cast of Article 99

Captain Blood The 1935 original starred Errol Flynn, so Sean Cannery.

Crimson Pirate original was Burt Lancaster, so since he was supposed to be a brit, I would go with David Tennant.

Can I vote for "Quit doing reboots/remakes/WTFever you call them this year and do more original material"? So far, I have yet to see a remake that was either necessary or as good as the original. Man of Steel was a mix of Donner's Superman and Superman II and wasn't as good. Robocop just plain blew chunks.

I tend to agree, with the exception of the last two, I really dont think the others need a reboot.

However, given the right director, Captain Blood and the Crimson Pirate could actually be pretty good.

I preferred the 300 Spartans over 300, but then I like old movies.

shiftyw -> RE: In the era of movie reboots, consider the following: (2/27/2014 8:35:12 PM)

NOOO remaking.
All those movies are too good for that.

And Hollywood would do something terrible and make Dr. Frankenfurter be like...Adam Lambert or some stupid crap.
Tim Curry was devine.

if it ain't broke don't fix it (TRON, Robocop, King Kong...) all these directors need to find they're own stupid voices and knock off the remakes.
THE ONLY remake that I felt was better than the original was True Grit.

But I've also got a huge girl boner for the Cohen Brothers and think they should make every movie.

300 Spartans was much better and had some contact with reality.

I wish they would FUCKING STOP re-making classics that can never be duplicated, anyway.

I have no opinion on any of the listed movies but, if they ever re-make "Star Trek: Generations", I want to meet with the casting director!

TV shows turned into movies suck most of the time. The A-Team, The Dukes Of Hazzard and Starsky & Hutch were lame movies.

Toysinbabeland -> RE: In the era of movie reboots, consider the following: (2/27/2014 9:12:31 PM)

M*A*S*H

Hawkeye.
Jim Parsons

Trapper.
Will Ferrell

Painless.
Richard Kind

Blake.
Carl Reiner

Radar: Topher Grace

Mulcahey.
David Hyde Pierce

Frank Burns (Eats Worms).
John C. Reilly

HOT LIPS
Blonderfluff

I can't remember but I don't think the following were in the movie....
Klinger: Sasha Baron Cohen

Nurse chapel (no, not the star trek one, the mash one): rupaul, just for fun

Nurse kellye : margaret cho

Sidney: Billy Crystal

Winchester: Simon Cowell

BJ Honeycutt: Ned Flanders

(Cartoons count right?)

Because Rocky Horror is a musical, I think Adam Lambert could be great as Frankenfuter. He's got the vocal chops( like him or not, he's got talent). I don't know downy can sing. I would NOT like to see johnny Depp in the role. Helena boham carter would be good for Magenta.

Brad? Janet? The other girl whose name escapes me at the moment? Riff raff, Rocky, Eddie?

Let's see....I'm going to go with musical talent except for Riff Raff and Eddie.

Katy Perry as Janet, Lady Gaga as the other girl, Duane "the Rock" Johnson as Rocky, Zach Efron as Eddie and someone tottally off the wall for Riff Raff. Oh and Brad....Aleksander skaarsguad from True Blood.

The onnly ones I would really love to see in some capacity is Perry, Johnson And Skaarsguard.

I also think that a remake of Rocky Horror should be considered. Introduce a hole new generation to such a fun movie.

Not even with a borrowed penis!

ETA (because I'm a Trekkie): Didn't the TNG finalé establish that Picard had been married to Dr. Crusher for a time? I'll take some o' that!

FrostedFlake -> RE: In the era of movie reboots, consider the following: (2/27/2014 11:36:51 PM)

Troublesome bit seems to be, there are only four stories.

Boy meets girl.

Boy loses girl.

Boy gets girl back.

Boy is a seasonal serial killer.

She was okay in season 1 but after her season 2 hiatus I didn't find her as appealing. If I'm gonna go all Star Trek fantasy then I'd have to go back to TOS and the hot chick from the episode "Gamesters of Triskelion".

(Yes...I'm so much of a Trekkie that I know the episodes by name)

Yes, that's the one. For the life of me I couldn't think if the name. Kept running dialogue in my head and it was there, just out of reach.
