How nice that all the pro-gun people feel that shooting down someone simply because you thought they might be dangerous is okay. Most white males in this country vote Republican; they are definitely dangerous to my well-being; I guess I should just start taking them out. What am I waiting for. Seriously, this is what some of your arguments sound like. Hope all of you pro-gun types will be happy defending me when I shoot the next Republican I meet. What a sad state of affairs…..[&:]

A completely irrational assessment of our position.

What about a situation in which neither homeowner nor suspected intruder was remotely likely to have had a gun, say, because it was illegal for either party to have one?

What about if my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle?

It doesn't work that way in this country, so get over it.

Not to mention a good reason why it's probably better that liberals don't have guns. [8|]

he intends to hurt you

there we have it, the assumption of gun owners. For too many gun owners this is the bottom line and the only line

That is not based on being a gun owner, it is based on spending a lifetime around cops.

cops spend their lives dealing with criminals, most people aren't criminals. Do you even consider that your view of people might be biased by that? We're not all trying to kill you ffs
ps. all three of your tag lines or whatever they are called are utter garbage and only help prove how one eyed you are about the world

What about not making other posters the subject do you fail to comprehend. (see TOS, or do you feel that is garbage too)

Why is the irresponsibility of his caregiver so readily dismissed.
That is why he got in this situation.

Interesting bit of backstory:

On 19 November, Hendrix’s fiancée called 911 just before midnight to report that a man carrying a piece of paper and a flashlight rang her doorbell and wanted to see a person whose name she did not recognise, according to Hendrix’s attorney and police reports obtained by the Associated Press under the state’s open records laws. The woman had only recently moved into the rented home and was suspicious, authorities said.

Worried, the fiancée called Hendrix, who told her to call 911. By the time Hendrix and police officers arrived, the suspicious man was gone. Afterward, Hendrix, a former soldier, took a Glock handgun from his apartment in nearby Chattanooga, Tennessee, and brought the weapon to his fiancée’s home.

While I have sympathy for both of them, this just prove she didn't do her job right if we put the same onus
on her as those who don't believe in self defense are putting on Hendrix.
Now it sounds to me that she did her best, may even have been exhausted and incapable of waking.
That absolves her exactly as much as calling 911 and warning Westbrook three times before firing.
Three warnings is not the act of a fear driven trigger happy nut.

Hill I can only imagine this was directed at me... I thought I had made myself clear earlier... The outrageous behavior was leaving the house... girlfriend unprotected... going out in the dark with no idea who, where, or how many were outside his door...AFTER the police were called and before they arrived. This yahoo but himself in a situation where he killed an innocent man... there should have been no three time to stop... there should have been a wait in the house for the police to arrive with a gun protecting his girlfriend and himself.

But instead he confronted someone with lethal force... who had just KNOCKED ON THE DAMN DOOR AND RANG THE BELL FOR CHRIST SAKE. Then shot him not once... not twice... not three times... but four damn times.

Now if that is not outrageous aggressive behavior and disregard for human life over someone knocking at the door then I don't know what is.

Steel you just have to realize as I did that some people, even when fair minded on most subjects, loose their reason and to some extent their humanity when it comes to guns...

I do get that part, it's the fear goggles.

That is interesting, DC.

I thought so.

It may help explain the depth of Hendrix's sense of being in danger, perhaps from someone who'd just recently cased the joint.

Sadly, it may also shed a beam of light onto the sluggish police response. I can imagine the cops putting down their coffee and groaning, "Her again?"

To my nitpicky and legalistic mind, it also raises the intriguing question of whether "castle doctrine" applies to a guest in someone else's castle. (My guess: yes.) I also wondered if there are pertinent laws about a firearm's crossing a state line. (My guess: no idea!)

Then there's the agonizing irony that the fiance--alone, unarmed, not pulsing testosterone--handled things much better than when Hendrix tried to protect her.

It wasn't knocking on the door that got him shot it was that he was warned not once, not twice, but three damn
times to stop coming at Hendrix. That many warnings are not the action of a trigger happy irresponsible person.

There is that chickenshit phrase, from that chickenshit thread, yet again.

Must be the gundiot mentality - they run away when called to account for it...

It's really fucked up that you can't come up to any solution to this easily solvable problem besides killing unarmed old men.

Three warnings trump Monday morning quarterbacking.

I've been in a similar situation and was easily able to immediately come up with a solution (in the moment not the next Monday) that didn't involve killing anyone over an imaginary threat. Frankly someone who can't even manage to Monday morning quarterback their way out of a pro killing innocent people position isn't someone who has any business with a gun in any actual situation.

Many states have no laws regarding taking a firearm with you when you cross state lines.
Many also have reciprocity with regard to pistol permits.
Both TN and GA have reciprocity with AL so I figure they have it with each other but I can not say for sure.

Yep it was for the crime of walking that he was executed.

Yep, people who "don't live in terror of anyone" think shooting confused old men for walking towards them is the responsible thing to do.
