WikedUncle -> RE: Retirement from Collarme (7/8/2006 6:52:26 PM)

People do say rather too much about announced departures (including the departees), but such announcements are a barometer. For each one who announces his/her departure, there are probably ten experienced people who leave silently, or just stop participating.

Every announced departure is followed by the declamations of people who mistake loudness and rudeness for intelligence. The thoughtful have been avoiding these people for centuries, and the loudmouths always bray triumphantly when thoughtful people avoid them.  Somehow, they think they’ve won.

I doubt that people with more experience leave such places because they feel threatened by people new to what we do, who have a genuine interest in learning.  That’s a thought that gratifies the egos of those who remain, and no more.  They leave because they have become bored to death with people who have no interest in learning, or in anything but shouting at one another, or displaying what they think is their wisdom.  With each such cycle of departures, the level of discourse gets a little lower. You see, the people with the experience and skills haven’t really gone anywhere, in the sense of walking away from what we do.  They have just stopped trying to talk to you, and leave you in much the same ignorance and isolation as when you started.  The result is that the new people who have the most to learn, because they know very little, learn only from each other. Ignorance plus ignorance equals more ignorance.  The chatroom pests don't lose from that equation. The people who really do want and need to learn lose a lot.

krikket -> RE: Retirement from Collarme (7/8/2006 7:17:06 PM)

In my experience over the years, when someone decides it's time to "leave home", to spread their wings and go explore the world around them, something "strange yet wondrous" happens while that door hangs open if for even a moment -- others, some like the one departing, and some not. will enter the door quietly before it closes.  The little birds may flutter and lurk about  to see what their new world has to offer, who has what, and what perhaps they can offer in return.  Other new one ones may enter with  deep booming voices professing to own all the knowledge anyone will ever need and is of course, willing to share for but a mere tuppence or glass of ale, others will smile, gently offer their experiences, thoughts and feelings and when the time is right, they learn to soar. :)

Good luck MistressDread.  i'll miss reading your ideas and opinions and the wisdom you were kind enough to share.  and t o the "newbies" who are now here in her place...welcome.

warmest regards,
jimini

MistressDREAD -> RE: Retirement from Collarme (8/28/2007 11:06:51 PM)

Well its been over a year and I have returned. Ive enjoyed My travels and the minions of lifestylers and Goreans Ive met and traded words, thoughts, living and styles of Dominance with the past year. Returning and reading all the words that was posted after My departure has been enjoyable laughable at sum points. There are a few who have lost their bets and owe Me. I like Lady Godiva Chocolates. ~smiles~ Where I was raised You dont leave out the door with out saying where Your going and why. Ive never been a quite Woman hence My informing those who cared that I was leaving and the reasons as best I could figgure out during that time. For those who took anykind of offence to My opinion and words or whom dident like what I had to say or the way that I said it, to bad. As for the comment on spelling and grammer I dont think that you want to go there because if you were to tempt to speak and write MY language you would Im sure fail far worse then I might at English.
Nuff Said and hello to Collarme, The Mods, Freinds and Foe, New and Old. The Bitch is back..........

domiguy -> RE: Retirement from Collarme (8/29/2007 7:43:05 AM)

Thank God your back!!! I was wondering who was going to "enlighten those with out a clue."

Dramatic exit...But then those who announce their departure seldom leave....Nonetheless it was well executed...The announcement...The stomping on your critics..It just seems that people who announce that they are leaving all share the same flaw...It's in the tiny details of the actual leaving itself....

Whatever problems that you thought were apparent back in '06, I'm sure  have corrected themselves by now.
Good luck, good sailing and until your next dramatic departure...Welcome back!
