I have 2 Dobies, they are good at sniffing things out, especially food, so if you have bagle crumbs on you or anything, you are lost

No food crumbs on me... I have only eaten a small bowl of cereal today and that was hours ago...

They're also great at sniffing potential huggers and petters out... Sensitive noses and bat ears

Curious questions for Lady C: How do dobies do with kids and small animals? Are they very high energy? We want a large dog, but we live in a tiny house (16x20) with a cat, 1 1/2 small kids, and chickens in the yard.

My siblings and I had a dobie when we were younger and he was awesome with us and our cats... I am not sure about the small space though we lived in a decent sized apartment at the time...

Mine are both rescues, we took the boy on (we're his 5th home and he came to us when he was 2, he's 6 now - well almost 2nd of April) and were told he's child aggressive that's why they had to give him up, no sign of that EVER, he's a bit worried of children and if they pull too much on his ears or tail (docking and cropping not allowed here), he whimpers pathetically and hides, the girl is 10 now, she LOVES children as in "Baby baby, must clean baby!!! Must lick feet and make baby laugh..." The neighbour's kids regularly dress her up in discarded clothes, so you see a black and tan Dobie running around in a pink tutu and a baby bonnet....
As for small animals, the cats boss them both around, Kia has a tendency to adopt rabbits (most embarrassing trip to the vet was when she needed stitches as she tried to mother a rabbit in PetsRUs and it bit her in the nose), I had pet rats which both dogs adored.
Mine absolutely dislike ducks and strange chickens, friends have pet chickens, they don't get barked at (they do sniff them though), but if we pass a farm with chickens they don't know along the way, there is a bit of posturing and barking, never really went for one though, but they let the chicks know they're big dogs.

They really don't take much room inside, they want to curl up next to their person or a person, but they do need a lot of exercise. Though I think there are differences between European and American dobies, all the ones I saw in the US seem to smaller, skinnier (as in daintier boned) and a bit more nervous.

Found a particular "dress up" pic... She lets kids do that to her, even though pink is not her colour...

We have 14 acres, so tons of running space. Off leash is a must, though. We can't fence in that big an area.

You'll have to put in a bit of work regarding training, but they usually don't stray far away from you, they're real velcro dogs and learn pretty fast, Dobies run like mad, but you can't keep them as kennel dogs because then they tend to snap and get aggressive, their temperament is that they want to be close to families who are their pack, pecking order is super important, so make sure they get fed after you ate, aren't allowed on furniture and stuff, then you should be fine

X-rays cannot penetrate out super subbie shields.

WE have an unlimited budget for this break room. Courtesy of the Official BDSM Committee.

Funny, most people assume that the uncooperative /s's just get banned or leave...
