A majority of Senate Democrats on Monday will launch an overnight "talkathon" until approximately 9:00 a.m. Tuesday to draw attention to climate change.

In a statement, Boxer said Democrats want to "wake up Congress" to the dangers of climate change.

Democrats have 28 senators scheduled to speak through Monday night, but some of the party's most vulnerable senators facing re-election this year—Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Kay Hagan of North Carolina—are notably missing from the lineup.

Perfect time slot, competing with Fallon then infomercials. There isn't even anything on the table either. [:D] I sense a desperation.

joether -> RE: Perfect (3/11/2014 2:47:06 PM)

So you have an issues with Americans expression their 1st amendment rights to express that there exists a scientific concept that is well defined and researched? The Senate and House have had plenty of 'discussions' on whether the President was born in the United States. All those 'arguments' were based on falsehoods and without evidence. The theory of climate change is one with a mountain of evidence. Scientists are not arguing on whether the concept exists (it does). Nor on the causes of it (numerously detailed). But on how exactly to proceed.

So, if you dislike Democrats taking up Congress's time on this issue, then its fair to ask why you didn't start a post on defending the President's birth origins when those threads came up?

As to those not speaking? There are fifty-three Democratic Senators in the current session of Congress. Twenty-eight of that number leaves, twenty-five that are not speaking. Your going to have us all believe in some conspiracy taking place, knowing that bit of important information, eh? Maybe their schedules do not allow them time to speak on the issue; unlike Republican/Tea Partiers, Democrats try to keep busy....

MercTech -> RE: Perfect (3/11/2014 3:07:05 PM)

The congressmen that aren't complete idiots already know.
I'll be curious to see if it is actually informative or just inflammatory rhetoric to sew FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt... the three things you need to sell an irrational proposal.)

There are to radical camps on the issue of climate change.
One wants to deny it is happening even though things like the increase in the mean oceanic temperature was predicted in the mid-1970s and was accurate within 10% in 2000.

truckinslave -> RE: Perfect (3/11/2014 3:11:40 PM)

I'm sure you see the irony- dims often think the solution is to make more of the problem......

The GOP thinks it such also Strange, I havent heard anyone but you and the delusional fungus teaparty members who think that only the Right is patriotic and only they have the right to be "patriotic" so naturally they see no reason to stop at one attempt or even a thousand. Of course, they cut food stamps for vets kids,and the working poor, bugger health coverage.

Nowhere is it said that the Right are the only ones allowed to be patriotic. Standing up for what you believe is in the best interest of the country certainly is patriotic. That there are differences of opinion doesn't mean only one side is patriotic and the other isn't.

You don't have to agree with something for it to be patriotic. Good God, you're not even an American, so your opinion on what is/isn't good for America means even less. It isn't up to you. What goes on in America is for Americans to decide. You get to have your opinions, and you get to voice them, but America will still be defined by Americans (please note that the use of the term "Americans" refers to citizens of the United States of America, and not the peoples of the North and South American continents, lest anyone decide to bring forth that question). That's not even saying your opinion is right or wrong. It doesn't even matter if your opinion is right or wrong.

To claim that multiple attempts to repeal Obamacare isn't patriotic simply shows that you disagree with the intent of repealing Obamacare. Those that agree with repealing Obamacare will view it differently.

This patriotic veteran who is in the political quadrant with Gandhi and Mandela appreciates the viewpoint from posters from countries other than the US.

Glad to hear that. I read the opinions of citizens of other countries, too. I discuss and debate with citizens of other countries, here. If I didn't appreciate their viewpoints, I wouldn't engage them.

I find it humorous, though, that a person that is not a US Citizen is defining what is or isn't patriotic in the US. It's one thing to disagree with someone's opinions, but to question the patriotism based on a difference on opinion, is ridiculous.

lol, of course I am. How can it be that a non-American can tell an American what is patriotic for that American?

Please do show where I question someone's patriotism because my belief is different from theirs.

Bitchy? Me? Hardly. Thanks for the "sweetstuff" compliment, though. [:)]

How much does it cost to run Congress for one day? Abut $33 million. What's fifty times thirty-three million? That's how much has been wasted in trying to remove the bill. And where are all the 'fiscal conservatives' complaining about this lost of taxpayer money? Completely silent....

What percentage of the population that wants the ACA removed, have actually read through it? not even 1%.
