ORIGINAL: MistressDarkArt Another one that makes my brain hurt is the use of ellipses as sentence separators, often with a mere two (..) dots instead of three. "She's coming over to my house..then we're going to the park from there..after that, we'll go to dinner..then to the movies." Can I be pedantic (as I am want to do, often)? I believe a proper ellipsis has a space, three dots, and another space unless it just ends a sentence. i.e.; quote:
She's coming over to my house ... something I am not keen on ... (the speaker just ends the sentence there; having nothing more to say on the subject) I'm not sure in your example if a full stop wouldn't be more appropriate. I could be wrong but "Then" certainly can be used to start a sentence. Yes, of course a few full stops would be appropriate, but I'm typing it as I see it elsewhere. Hmmm, don't know about the space between ellipses. I've always seen it written as no space between dots. More research is needed. Also, in the above context, I believe the word you want is 'w o n t'.
