Also dyslexic.

I spelled (I want to type spelt) "off" "ffo" for most of grade school. I couldn't draw 3's the correct way. It took me until at least 14 to really learn how to use my hands to tell left from right.

Learning another language in high school was brutal. I mean really horrible.

I get endless shit from my man for pronouncing "Asiago" as "Asagio". I still spell "their" wrong (I spell it thier)- constantly- and I'm surprised no one on this forum has called me out- mostly because if its "I before E except after C" and one of the most commonly used words doesn't follow that rule, I mean, what the hell?

While I think I type pretty coherently- I generally have to read something three times before I hit "send". Apostrophes tend to not mess me up that much, except the Jones's/Jones' thing. I also struggle with, and often miss you're vs. your.

I usually reread and correct even after the fact (I'm all over this forum with ETA- Grammar, which I try to spell with an 'e' rather than an a every time until spell check tells me to knock it off)

I mostly just hope that it never interferes with my point, and if I can understand a poster regardless of grammar issues, I don't give 'em any shit for it. And so far I haven't gotten any shit for my digressions.

...I also love abusing ellipses.

I feel for you shifty, but I'd rather allow the nazi's get their panties in a bunch than explain my personal problems, because at the end of the day, I just do not give a fuck what they think.

Jus sayin

P.S. If I reread this post about 9 times, I may, might, a long shot maybe, catch the errors. Who has time for that shit?

But see- you aren't a 20 something millennial who's (whose?) reputation and generation precedes them.

Nope, I'm a 40 sumthin prick that doesn't give a shit. shifty, at the end of the day, and more importantly the end of your life, you must be settled with the fact you lived your life well, and lived it well for you. Not for the sheeple, not to please the crowd, but to please you and keep the happy things, your very happiness close to you. It's easy for me to say because I've never been one of the sheeple, and the sheeple that I have known, grown up with, are living in their "straw dog" lives and I have spent mine my way, and it has been a FUCKING FANTASTIC LIFE! It is a three step program:

#1. Do not give one fuck what people think about you and how you get your happy.
#2. Do not allow anyone to damage your happy.
#3. Go get your happy.

Jus sayin

I'm like the Tyrant in that I'd much prefer not to divulge my issues up front.  Simply because I'm an asshole that likes to see a person for who they truly are and what they truly believe without my interference.

I prefer the company of those that do not require any background story, excuse or explanation and that accept me for who I am, including any mistakes I may make.
That also includes those that don't lump me into some category automatically due to age, for example.

I don't care if a person has ADHD, dyslexia, or a case of "I don't give a shit".
I don't even care if they're just plain awful at grammar and punctuation.  It's the thought behind the words I'm interested in, so long as they are coherent.  While some words (like to, too, and two) stick out like a sore thumb to me, it is still understandable after reading the context.  These issues do not mean they're incapable of possessing some kind of knowledge that I can learn from.  Whatever a person's reasoning behind it, I'm not here to judge.

Now, if I find an error in a text book, that's a whole new story.  That bothers me and sends my OCD into overdrive.

I swear this is NOT to be smart-ass and I did read and recognize that you have dyslexia.

The full "rule" (which we tend to have nothing but exceptions to in English) is: "I before E, except after C or when sounded as "A" in 'neighbor' and 'weigh'."

"Their" kind of qualifies for that last bit and maybe that will help?

Wellll...
I actually do care about my grammar, and want to continue to improve it. So I'd hope some people gave enough of a shit about me, to bother pointing out where I'm making repeated boo-boos.

I've only had one person actually bother to help me so far...
There was a spelling mistake in my profile. I had written 'insured' instead of 'ensured', the chick sent me a polite message saying, "Hi, I really liked your profile but thought you'd like to know..."

And I still remember her help to this day.
I appreciate that kinda stuff.

Obviously, nitpicking in a thread can be annoying, but caring enough and taking the time to send someone a nice CMail informing them of a reoccurring grammar mistake, seems like a helpful and considerate thing to do in my book.

I've actually asked on here in the past, that if anyone picked up on something I'm doing wrong repeatedly, I'd appreciate it if they would let me know. And that still stands.

Yes some people don't care, but I do care about my grammar. It's nothing against them, just a personal thing.
Since I'm writing a book... It's kinda a big deal for me...

I would appreciate that, too. While I'll never be perfect, I'm the first to admit there's always room for improvement.

That actually is very helpful, although I'm disappointed it doesn't rhyme.

Oh yeah, what were we talking about?
