What about Paula?
I realize that somehow to most people in the US the use of the word nigger has become somewhat worse than murder, but I contend that her cooking has done more actual harm than her historical use of intemperate language

What is unclear here is whether or not the show was in financial straights because of her political stance and her going public about them in any way.

The question remains as it always seems to, were ticket sales suffering because as is the case with most teapartiers, she was spouting lies about the Cal. economy and immigration policy in particular and maybe the US economy and immigration policy in general ? The rest is merely conversation.

She does have a right to free speech but does anyone have a right to use their place in a very public business for hire...to espouse that speech ?

Seems to me that the producers also remain free by contract to replace her and there usually are clauses for such dismissal.

Freedom of association is one of the most sacred and defended freedoms in this country.....

The rightie-whiners are saying that "Hollywood"(ANY PRIVATE COMPANY making media products ) is obligated to hang with them and help them make right-wing propaganda, even if they don`t want to....

Other wise they`re gonna cry and blubber......

I`d love to see billow o`really`s reaction when told he needs to work with Michael Moore........to make it seem fair....

Freedom of association is a civil political right not to be prohibited by law and thereby...not a private contractual demand to be enforced by law.

As to this firing being SOP in Hollywood, yes it does seem it is but then in many cases...it is SOP everywhere. People are being fired for their church, political, sexual as well as other proclivities all of the time, they just don't...get the press.

O'Reilly and Moore being independent contractors, retain the right to settle the issues of 'who they work with' on their own.

What I meant by what is S.O.P. in Hollyweird is that once someone "outs" themselves as not toeing the party line, it becomes more difficult for them to find work unless they are a mega-star.

Sorbo has never been a mega-star (and maybe that's part of the backlash) but his projects have done fairly well.

I think it was Tim that mentioned a few names ...

Chuck Norris had to executive produce (that's pronounced: finance) his own TV series because he couldn't get any more work, after he was outed. To Hollywood's chagrin, even his crappy little show did well enough to run for 6 or 7 years.

Clint was smart enough to not out himself until he had reached such a status that even if there were a backlash, he could get financing for his own movies.

I just find it funny that if it were conservatives that controlled Hollywierd and enacted these hiring practices, the PPLs would be moaning and gnashing their teeth.

There has been a spate of "religious" (if you will) movies, lately. Noah ain't one but we'll go with that.

There was controversy about it not being very true to its subject matter since before it was released. That's why I don't really see it as a religious movie. Hollywood will use anything they can to make money and that's fine. That's what businesses do.

I am just amusedly waiting for some conservative-based production companies (Icon, maybe?) to start getting some traction in Hollywood and when one company decides to not even audition some darling of the left because of their political or religious bent, the PPLs will be the first ones crying "discrimination".

Could it be that Chuck can`t act his way out of a paper bag?

The martial arts genre is so last century, btw.

Should there be a ministry of fairness to force producers into working with folks who`re talent-less ?

Seems there`s no shortage of talent less actors blaming their short-comings on someone else.

This get`s back to why there are almost no conservative comedians and none that are funny......You can`t force people into liking dog shit.......no matter how pathetically the right whines how unfair life is....

The notion that these folks were 'outed' by other than themselves is nonsense.  Chuck is 74 years old for fucks sake, and he never was a Sean Connory, who isnt working as much as he used to either.

John Wayne was a far-right bircher, everyone knew it, but they liked his movies, even if they hated his politics.

The idea that they are being shunned because they are right-wing is very dumbass, Vince Vaughn, Fred Thompson, 50 Cent, Sinese, Sandler, Caan, Engvall, Andy Garcia, Larry the Cable Guy, Dennis Miller, Foxworthy, Woods, Pretty much all the Baldwins, Kurt Russell, Joe Pesci, Yaphet Kotto, Rip Torn, Danny Aiello, et al, can get a fuckin job any old time they want.

Horseshit actors are horseshit actors, and politics doesnt enter into their being horseshit.

Hard to tell precisely how (dis)honest a post is when it sources only a headline created by an anonymous source.

In 2011.

Hard to tell precisely. But I have a pretty damned good idea.

Well, anonymous and unscholarly has more credibility than anything the nutsackers are quoting, by their band of dimwit fucksticks.

I know I've been gone a while, but when I saw the scroll: "I knew there was a reason I liked kevin", well, I just *had* to click so I could find out who this woman was that liked having water spilled on them.

Never mind.
