There have been many times in my life when looking a person in the eye was a major plus. This includes ladies. I think it's also important to look them in the eye while you're listening to them. If I'm talking to someone - depending upon how "serious" the conversation is, of course - and they're not looking at me, I stop talking. Since we're talking about ladies, specifically; I would think it would depend upon the type of look that you're sending or how it's perceived. I remember one time (I was VERY young 18 or 19), I was in one of my favorite watering holes and she came in, wearing a skirt that was so short that if she leaned to one side, you didn't need to be deaf to be a lip reader and a top that was open, literally, to just above the navel. She sat for about an hour and was hit upon by a lot of guys (and a few ladies) and somehow, she and I started talking. I looked her in the eye, the entire time. After about 20 minutes, she made mention of that fact. I told her (in the interest of honesty) that when someone dresses as she was dressed, she kind of gave up the right to bitch about people "admiring the goods" and that I had already done it - but, at a distance and when she was obviously more interested by the attention of the people fawning all over her outfit - and I thought the "goods" were good enough but that I wanted to talk to her to see who she was. Yes, we went home together, that night. I've also had ladies that were "creeped out" when I look them in the eye, when we talk because (I'm told) my eyes seem to not be "happy". Apparently, I have "angry eyes", as far as some are concerned. So, as many have already said: it depends upon how you're looking and how that look is perceived .
