To be truthful, this phenomenon is not specific to Collar Me. Trying to find any "date" on the internet sucks. You are fishing in a mud puddle. I am finding the best way to find someone real is to forget that these sites even exist, get a life and find some real people in real time. I do not think that face to face first encounter is replaceable. Not to mention that I do not believe that the greatest majority of the profiles on any site are legitimate, and I think that many of the ones that are either have some really serious issues and baggage that will drive you mentally insane or they are only into playing games. So yeah. The face to face encounter can not be replaced.

There are far to many auto responce emails here. I just proved it. I also find that the listing of new users is a joke as many have been here for ages. One way to find out if a photo is real or not is ask for a photo with your initials wrote on the chest or a shirt I know is not 100 % fool proof but is a lot better than assuming the original photo is real

It doesnt take much to edit a photo. I found that the best is a webcam so that you can acutally see the person move. I have come across subs that went as far as to find a friend to talk on the phone for them. The only thing the person that posted the profile wanted was to harvist pictures.

Honestly, i used to be like that. Posting a picture, and nothing else. I thought that if someone wanted to get to know me, they'd contact to me find out more. I don't believe in that any more. I wasted a lot of my time talking to people i don't have anything in common with. But i didn't know that to begin with because they didn't know what i was into. Having a filled-out profile saves someone a lot of time in the long run. If they know up front you won't get along because you're looking for the same thing; be it a sub looking for a dom, or vice versa. They can just bypass your profile and move on to the next one. Also, having a filled out profile allows for 'openers'. Meaning you can ask a question about something you saw on a profile, and you can strike up a conversation. Being courted is just an added bonus.

littleone, I agree with you. If the pic I posted wasn't real, then why post that one? It's not my best side and if I could choose I'd photograph pounds lighter than I am. But I'm just me. If someone isn't interested in me the way I am in that pic, then they can move on. I still wish people would read what I posted on my profile. It's amazing how I get emails from people who have obviously NOT read it. Geez!

You need to let the person reading your profile that you're not sure what you want, and you're still exploring (if that is, in fact what you're doing). Just be honest; and as much as this is a cliche: be yourself.

Of course sooner or later you have to meet someone face to face, but you can find people to meet over the internet...at least I have, and although I am not going to claim he is "normal", neither am I.... and we were pretty upfront about ourselves before we met. I can tell you he didn't misrepresent his life ever. I am confident he would express the same opinion of me. The thing is this, we do not ever know where we will encounter that person that lights us up.. it could be here, at a munch, or even the supermarket.. one just never knows, so keeping a positive outlook and an open mind are extremely helpful

This pretty much says it all. i enjoy collarme. i have met a number of great people on here. but i do not view the internet as a healthy primary means of dating. i don't think anyone on here owes anyone else a synopsis of their life in 100 words or less. life comes with no disclaimers. you take a risk, you meet other people. sometimes it is a total bummer. sometimes you are so amazed, you can't believe it's real. sometimes it's wonderful. i'm sure i DON'T appeal to far far more people than i DO appeal to. and that probably applies to everyone on this planet. those who are interested, will respond. those who aren't, will not. but getting angry over profiles on a site that you paid no money for, seems absurd to me (hmm, would this be a bad time to point out the saying you get what you pay for???). (edited...grammatical mistakes galore!!!!)

I actually met Master online. And we've been together for six months. My mom's best friend met her husband online. It's amazing what you can find if you keep an open mind (i didn't mean to rhyme, i am by no means a poet).

Sure. Finding the One for you online can happen. [:)] I met my husband online about 8 years ago. He lived about 6 hours away from me at the time and did a LOT of driving as often as he could manage it. Long distance relationships can manage to suck and be a lot of fun at the same time. We've been married for 4 years and 4 months now and are doing well. zuma

But just like real life there are downsides to meeting someone. Why is it that meeting somone from online is percieved as so much more dangerous than meeting someone in RL? A person you meet face-to-face can turn out to be a serial killer, or a rapist just as easily as a person online can turn out to be those things.

I have My profile enabled, but for one reason only. It is to give My fellow posters some kind of idea of who I am if they are interested. I also like the fact that I can get email that way and I have received numerous encouraging, uplifting emails.

I keep my profile enabled for the same reason. I was recently asked: if you're owned then why are you here? I simply replied: if you had read my profile, you wouldn't have asked that question.
