Regarding this thread "Angry Dom": http://www.collarchat.com/m_4678794/tm.htm

This, in my opinion, is a great example of what Collarchat should be. The replies were caring and informative. There was true empathy expressed by posters who shared their own experiences in a way that addressed the OP's situation.

The OP offered clarification when needed, without getting defensive. The over-all tone of this thread made me feel that she had been truly helped and supported. And in the larger view, anyone reading this would be gaining valuable knowledge.

I'm a lurker, but having watched the melt-down <grin> and wondering where Collarchat would end up, it is very heartening to see this type of exchange.

That's all...carry on. [sm=yourock.gif]

Thank you so much for expressing how you feel about that thread.

All too often this side of CM is portrayed as a place where we abuse and traumatize new posters and run them off. That rarely happens unless the poster deserved it.

What does happen and what the members rarely get credit for is when we step forward with good advice and more importantly genuine concern for someone who is experiencing at the very least a great deal of emotional pain.

The thread does have the advantage of a good op who checks in often and clarifies and updates as needed.

You're welcome!

I'm sure there are many, many lurkers who see and appreciate the good posts. I know I have learned quite a lot here, plus I love the wit and humor.

To be honest, my first thought when CM went down was "Oh no! I can't read 'tap tap tap' again." That is one of the most hilarious pieces I've ever read on the Internet.

We know you guys and gals are out there. :) We are a caring group and sometimes a snarky group but I am leaning towards more caring. Keep watching :)

Hello and welcome. Interesting handle you've got there, would love to learn its meaning. Hope to see more from you, as you wish to interact here. Enjoy!

I have witnessed you putting the pitchfork and tar brush to more than a few but never once undeservidly.

It's Welsh for "curious". I'm not Welsh, nor are my ancestors, but Wales has long fascinated me and I hope to visit someday.

I'm afraid to post - I think my sense of humor would get me in trouble. For example, my first inclination was to tell you my ID is Welsh for "Goddess" (oops, I did NOT say that!). [sm=angel.gif]

mnottertail -> RE: Comment on this site (4/11/2014 1:56:48 PM)

Oh, Caneman sort of fancies himself a goddess, he won't mind.

Chwilfrydig -> RE: Comment on this site (4/11/2014 2:43:51 PM)

I've lurked long enough to know that had YOU asked me the meaning, I would've replied it's Welsh for "Hoover" and made a new friend!

HIJACK AWAY!!! That was gorgeous.

Here's one of my favorite videos...and it was filmed in Pembrokeshire, Wales:

Sorry it's not ad-free, but it's worth it IMO. Cheers!

ETA - best viewed full-screen, HD and headphones if possible. :-)

I am impressed that you lurked long enough to know.

The people who get shouted down on their first post forgot that very simple and ancient bit of netiquette.

shiftyw -> RE: Comment on this site (4/11/2014 6:03:51 PM)

Lurk first, comment later= recipe for success!

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Comment on this site (4/11/2014 6:19:17 PM)

I didn't think I had to be that obvious about it, but then again, I wasn't thinking about the newbies.

I am not using that term prejudicially. We were all newbies once and we are newbies to every new site we visit.

I just started using Facebook last week. That makes me a newbie there even though I could code the site with one hand tied behind my back.

We are all newbies when we go to a new site. Lurk, listen, and figure out how it works.

I wish I could take my own advice but I'm too much of an opinionated asshole. Learn from my mistakes.

Yeah, and some of those deserved shout-downs were frickin' hilarious. I have the word "pregmant" on my fridge, 'cause it makes me laugh every time I read it.

To me, it's all about adapting to the culture in which you find yourself. Every one in my family has a sick sense of humor, but we know when and where to let it fly. On the other hand, I can understand some of the threads that others found distasteful because I've been a regular on a forum before. You feel like you're with your family and sometimes in the heat of the moment you forget there are non-family members present.

I don't think it will get you in trouble, in fact I think you will fit in just fine [:)]

Chwilfrydig -> RE: Comment on this site (4/12/2014 9:45:48 AM)

Thank you, Misty. I'm not sure yet if I should come down permanently but the visit has been very nice so far.
