Is it me or does there seem to be a huge number of folks starting threads who have foot in mouth disease?

I have been perusing the threads early this morning as is my wont on Sunday and i have come across numerous threads slamming the rich, the poor, the overweight, the pros and on and on ad infinitum.

Are the cm boards infected with something contagious? Did i just catch it? Do we all need new virus protection on our computers? Or is this a malady something we are passing around by sharing floggers and vibrators?

Is there a cure?

Oh great ! and now you gave it to me! LOL! Wait  I feel a nastie streak coming on!

Unfortunately, you are right. Whatever happened to acceptance of of the other person?  Sigh. A sign of the times? or just a phase of the moon? Hopefully, it will pass!

Unfortunately when you post a question in these forums or reply to someone elses you leave yourself open to others criticism. Unfortunately there are quite a few people on this site that cannot accept the views or opinions of others and show it by pulling the person apart who expressed  their view. They appear to use any reason they can - ie if they cant prove their view wrong they will pull apart the posters race, job, status, appearance etc. It makes them feel better about themselves for some reason. This happens anywhere you go but appears to be getting more frequent here in the time ive been a member which is only about 6 month.

Naw..it's the typical Sunday morning; "I have to bitch about something" phenomena. It's an oral kink displayed in type...lol.

Odd twicehappy, I felt the same thing, but then I think its another phase, hopefully not heading toward some awful blow out that the Mods have to send everyone to their corners---I have come to notice that it gets less tolerant during a full moon--and that it does go in cycles---with usually a swing back to the better topics and more tolerance. Here's hoping we see an upswing soon.

Dear twicehappy, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I also have noticed, that the 'vanilla cone' and one or two posts start threads as to my mind's eye to be an indirect attack on CM regulars and or BDSM, M/s and D/s at large.

There are some who cause a problem in one screen name and watch the responses.  I think we're enabling such a syndrome.  Perhaps they have a different screen name to add other topics and or responses.  Anything is possible with two or more computers and several phone lines.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Isn't it funny how one can down another so easy..but it takes effort to praise someone or tell them " good job"?

My sentiments exactly.  I have said this many times and will say it again, for a "lifestyle" that is supposed to be accepting and non-judgemental, there sure are a lot of judges on our experiences and behavior here on the boards.

OCBWD. Obcessive Compulsive Blog Writing Disorder.  I'm guilty of it Myself sometimes.  Writing something constructive about a topic or an issue takes time, forethought, positive energy and effort.  It's much easier, and faster, to shoot something down than it is to build anything up.  Constant negative posting, particularly by 'brand new' ID's that are created for the sole purpose of posting the flame, is simply the product of a lazy, idle mind.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Fortunately, there are so many great regulars here at CM who contribute thought provoking topics and opinions that it always makes it worthwhile to read a few threads.

As for the cure:  I agree with My colleagues: ignore the flaming threads, post to the interesting threads.  The rest will fall by the wayside in time.

What I have noticed unfortunately is that thought provoking threads usually die after 3 or so pages, while flamefests last up to over 20 pages. If someone wants to gain attention it is easier to start an "You are an overwieght cow on welfare" thread than a thought provoking one which no one will respond to but a very few peeps.

I try to start threads like you do twicehappy, threads with questions I am truly curious to know the answer to, but try to be respectful of others roles, genders, and relationship dynamics.. but unfortunately (I include myself in this at times) it is more fun to involve oneself with drama than with deep thought...

Just my thoughts

I too noticed these posts with attacks on weight, money etc. and wondered (tounge planted firmly in cheek) how picky do these people want to get. I for one would like to see topics about BDSM tops and bottoms weighing nothing at all, there should be more non-corporal bondage around, and every top should have just enough money to buy 50 feet of rope, a bag of clothespins, and few items from your local K-mart/Wal-Mart/Target's kitchen section. (tounge out of cheek)

My dom has cane type practice swords he has used on my bum... very thuddy. I prefer his wooden kitchen utensils, or even best... just his hand, I guess because I can feel his skin on my skin, his direct contact with me. But you know.. that is just me and I could be wrong...

It always amazes me that people are surprised when they find the same people in this lifestyle as in any other. In a situation where it's considered "it's all good".. people feel that they finally can ask questions openly.  It's no so much the question sometimes, as in HOW it is asked.  It's not easy running  a messge board. It's very much like trying to herd cats :)

If I may make a suggestion.. if anyone takes offence to a post, just email the poster privately .  It my not be as much fun, but it saves the board of  additional negativity.

Maybe everyone this morning has PMS?  I don't want hove to mouth disease..and besides are you calling us all cows? That hurts my feelings twiceowned. Really, I'm wounded and I don't wanna play with you anymore.

Actually, I think someone is right, those types of posts seem to come in cycles whether with the moon or just shifts of seasons or what have you.  When I worked for an online gaming company ( which will go unnamed) our boards would be calm and polite until about the full moon where all of a sudden they would light up with flaming, intolerance and just over all pissyness.  Sometimes I think it just takes one or two negative trouble makers ( read fuck-wits) to post a few 'light hearted' (read pissy, but laced with sarcasm) threads and then whoah all of a sudden everyone kinda picks up on that attitude and runs with it....

...  Mob mentality...Luckily, I've noticed that most that most of our posters here are level headed and don't fall into the 'well if he can post negativity, then I can too' kinda mind, and if we do start to go that way there is always some kind soul ( read twicehappy) who reminds us that we aren't evil pissy bastards and are really good natured people and should behave as such.

Ok.. here is a possible solution to be filed under the "If you cn't beat them-join them" catagory.  Make an area for flaming.  When you find a flame,  the moderator move it to there.. That way, if someone enjoys reading flames, they can go there.  That way there is no censorship..

AND.. like with the indicators of how much someone posts here..they could give them a "flame" rating avitar..so you know the person is a flamer and  do what you must to live your life happily :)

Someone started a "Post your complaints here" thread (or something like that) awhile back and it was in off-topics.  As I recall, it was a really long thread!!  :)

But I agree with twicehappy.  Too many threads are started complaining about others, rather than thought provoking topics that might actually make a difference.

I agree with Julia, too - you can set the timer for how fast a "fat sub" thread will grow to a million pages (about 10 minutes) while some really good sink-your-teeth-into threads fizzle.  Pity.
