If they already have the id, then what is wrong with asking them to show it when they vote?

They have been caught numerous times since then as well. GOP voter suppression accounts for many more votes than all the allegations of vote fraud. With no requirement for identification it is possible to vote multiple times just stating that you are the registered voter. If identification is required there can be no more voting the cemetery or stuffing the ballot box.

That was absentee ballot voter fraud. Given the prison term he received, why would any normal person risk incarceration to cast one or ten extra votes? There is no risk reward that makes any sense here. Next, if the ID law prevents 30,000 people from voting, it seems better not to enact it -- and stick to prosecuting anyone who commits voter fraud, especially when voter fraud is non existent. Doesn't it bother you that the real motive behind these laws is partisan advantage and not justice and "crime prevention" at the polls. Are you not persuaded in any manner by the judges reasoned ruling in this case, or do you just blow all the facts and analysis off? Why can't the Republicans simply win more votes? Why can't they take the high road? Why do so many conservatives endorse the low road?

Could also have been the voter and the poll worker knowing each other so ID wasn't necessary (the poll worker would be the positive ID for the voter), or what.

When Alabama passed their version of the voter ID law she went through quite a lot of back and forth to get the voter ID. Why would a retired person bother keeping a current ID except for these stupid voter ID laws?
