Does it do anything for you? Passive or active, you dont have to believe to be affected by somebodies fear.

No more afraid of the magic sky wizard than I am of eating mashed potatos, stabbing myself in the tonsils with a fork, and bleeding to death.

And here I thought God was that being to help those out of suffering, hatred, and danger? A powerful force for good and law. One that has deep wisdom on how us humans should live our lives. To be at peace, without war and conflict.

What does such a God gain by being feared by his followers? I can understand his enemies, but those that worship Him?

Not all of us grew up in abusive homes.

Similarly, having grown up in loving atmospheres, we seek that same relationship with the Ineffable One.

Was get loud and that was enough to know.

"Fear" in this context, to me, is NOT the same as being afraid or frightened. Fear of God is more a feeling of awe and reverence.

So my father was abusive?
I thought fear was normal when you know you are doing something wrong.
Like mnotter said.

I can't imagine why God would be afraid, so his fear doesn't affect me either way.

If God were afraid, and I believed God was afraid, that could be a concern. But there's no indication that's the case.

I do not fear God. Those who fear God frighten me with their beliefs.
