Does anyone know exactly what happened? Not conjecture, but the absolute facts of the matter? No? Then perhaps it is time to just remain calm and go about your business on the forums and let this go. I have read the blog explaining one side of the story. I have not read the other side of the story because there is none to read. Of course, then there are the facts and truth about what really happened which no one knows nor should they claim to know. What we know for certain: Damn little. Something happened. What we can speculate happened: Everything from flying monkeys to alien abduction and more. Let your imagination run free. What follows is opinion and opinion only. It is not taking sides, nor should it be construed as factual, informative, worthy of reading, or even responding to. Go watch a movie instead of spending your time reading my post. You have been warned. I hate to see the site in danger of shutting down, but isn't that the reality of free sites in general? There one day, gone the next and there isn't a thing that anyone can do about it. If there were problems in the business, it is a damn shame that they could not be worked out, but that is life... not everything has a happy ending. Generally speaking with the site domain being redirected, normally people do not take such drastic action unless they are out of other options. Perhaps the blog was a way of attempting to apologize to the community and offer some sort of explanation in lieu of silence and everyone scratching their heads. It may, or may not have been an attempt at winning public opinion, but at least she tried. As far as her bringing her sick child into the whole thing, perhaps this was a way for her to explain her stress level and why she took as drastic of a measure as she did. For those lambasting her for doing that, you are correct in saying that her daughter's illness should not have been brought into this, however, if it is true and her daughter is that ill, then have a heart... she must be under a tremendous strain and may well have not handled things the best way she should have. No one here has ever reacted poorly under tremendous emotional strain? As far as her partner, well I believe remaining silent is either the smartest thing to do or the dumbest thing to do, I am not certain which. We, as the community, would like to hear at least a little something in way of an explanation and some sort of assurance that the site is going to remain here. Yes, its being here now may well be evidence of that, or it may well be that the loss of revenue is all they care about, again, more questions and no answers. One could wonder why on earth, if the problems were this bad, that an equitable solution could not be reached and the community would have been none the wiser. The other amazing thing are the armchair lawyers that spring out of the woodwork claiming to know this or that. Unless you have a law degree, leave the legal opinions to those best suited and trained for such a thing. We do not know if a contract exists between the partners. I would hope there was one, but there may not have been. Therefore, whatever surety of a legal footing one may or may not have is also speculation. If a contract exists, no one here has likely read the actual agreement or have been made aware of any of the terms or conditions therein. Who owns what or has rights to which parts, percentages, or physical data involved in the business is unknown. Polarizing to one side or the other is an exercise in futility because there are no verifiable facts. Similar cases have happened and there is case law for them, but we have no way of knowing if the case is even remotely similar to existing cases. As far as the idea of whether or not the contents of the blog amounts to libel that is actionable, that may well be left to the courts, but, as stated before, it may not have been the wisest choice. In short, for those that are all upset and indignant over whatever has transpired here, we just do not know enough about the situation to really get behind one party over the other or to condemn them both. What we should be concerned about is the stability of the site that we all enjoy using. It is my hope that some sort of resolution can be found. If there is no compromise to be had and it goes into litigation, the entire future of the site as a whole could be in jeopardy. It would not be the first time that a court has thrown the baby out with the bathwater. If you scrolled down this far, I will give you the "Too Long Didn't Read" version: Blah, blah, blah, blah , blah, blahbitty blah blah.
