You are locked into the belief that because some Christian churches believe X then they all do.

You can find a spiritual home that doesn't believe in X.

At some point you may decide you don't want or need a spiritual home and that is fine, but having a place to go where you don't feel unwelcomed might be a nice thing right now for you.

No, you msiunderstand. I dont think all do. Im just saying those who do should have the right to believe what they believe. Unless you are talking about something else im sorry im confused :(

They do believe what they believe.

I was responding to this btw:

Also i always had a problem with Christianity because it basically says that if you dont believe in God you go to an eternal punishment. Even if gay and transgender arent sins, i still go to hell along with my non-christian friends if i dont accept christ.

I also want to find a church that accepts science and doesnt think the earth is 6000 years old. Maybe i am being too picky.

I am guessing you grew up in either a very conservative Protestant church or perhaps Catholic?

You also seem to think that what you are looking for is either outrageous or unreasonable.
It is neither.

Here is a section of blogs by "progressive Christians".

Unitarian or Quaker would be my suggestions.

However, you will have the same problem in other faiths. Reconstructionist Judaism would welcome you, Orthodox would not.

I imagine the same will hold true of any religious temple, some will be more welcoming than others, whether Buddhist or Shinto. Each one is different and you will need to learn about each individual one to find someplace you feel welcome.

To the OP,

Most religions believe they are the only ones getting into heaven. I find it amusing.

I am a Christian. I believe in God and Jesus. I DO NOT believe in hell and tthe Bible is not a strong basis for my faith as I find many contradictions I disagree with. Neither of those things affect my faith.

Faith and religion are vastly different things. Sometimes they can co-exist for a person, sometimes they don't.

I think dc's church could very much feed me spiritually, but I know of none like that in my area.

For the record, Jews believe in God, but not that Jesus was the son of God. Jehovah Witnesses as well, and JW are very into science.

Its not difficult to see a "marriage" between science and faith. For most though seperating faitth from rreligion is very difficult.

Not that it matters, butt I believe God made us all and He must have thought you to be very strong and special (like ll of us really) to have decided you have the strength and grace to handle the life he gave you.

One of my theories on God is that He WANTS us to be skeptical and athiest, to no longer be dependent on Him and actually start caring for our fellow man. But thats just a theory. I do not claim to know God, and anyone who does is the epitome of arrogance. I only am making my best guess. Because God seems to have made it very hard for us to find Him, which to me means He doesnt want to be found.
