joether -> The RNC uses FEAR.....AGAIN... (6/27/2014 10:28:28 AM)

Remember back in the late 80's and early 90's when the Republicans had a few half decent ideas? When they had some credibility on a variety of issues? That they stuck to the issues, rather attacking the other party each week over their ideas? Yeah, a generation later, the Republicans of today are not like the ones from the late 80's/early 90's. This new 'class' of Republicans have....NOTHING....to offer the United States. I shouldn't say that. They do have something to offer: Examples of the sort of individuals that should...NEVER...have any sort of political power/influence over the nation's interests.

To this, I bring up the Latest's Fears of the Republican Party. Since 'fear' is what keeps conservatives in line these days; that is the tool the RNC uses. Rather that promote good quality issues, ideas for improving the nation; the RNC tries to place fear in individuals that Hillary Clinton is a clone of President Obama, and NOT the wife of former President Bill Clinton. Oh, did I mention that 'reality' is not a virtue of the RNC?

I imagine that Mrs. Clinton did have many conversations with her husband while they were in office over all matters of policy. Hillary is not an idiot like former Rep. Michelle Bachmann, nor a fool like former President Dick Cheney is making himself out to be the last few months. And that if in the White House, she will be her own person. She might agree with ideas and policies from President Obama, and from her husband (another former US President). She might also agree with individuals beyond those two as well. But to say that she is a clone of President Obama is simply silly and stupid. But 'silly' and 'stupid' are ALSO virtues of the RNC.

I just find it funny that conservatives feel 'fear' is a virtue rather than a problem to be combatted.

thishereboi -> RE: The RNC uses FEAR.....AGAIN... (6/27/2014 11:40:41 AM)

Do you mean using fear like trying to convince women that the right is waging a war on them and if they elect anyone from the right they will make all abortion illegal and make women carry dead fetuses inside until they deliver naturally. Or maybe you mean fear like trying to convince gays that they will be shoved back in the closet if anyone on the right gets in. Or maybe you mean fear like trying to convince the poor that only the left cares about them and they will be left to die if the right gets power. Is that the kind of fear you mean?

SadisticPredator -> RE: The RNC uses FEAR.....AGAIN... (6/27/2014 11:46:33 AM)

I've always wondered if Vince Foster was afraid when Hillary's goons executed him and made it look like suicide. You mean that kind of fear?

Nothing like the image of granny going over the cliff in a wheelchair, is there?

"former President Dick Cheney?"

Really?

Is pointing out a Hillary Administration being more akin to an Obama Administration, rather than a Clinton Administration is fearmongering?!? I'm sure Senator McCain and former Governor Romney would be amused at your alluding to the Left not using fear tactics. Or, am I in error in recollecting those two being alluded to as the next W?

In case you haven't noticed, I'm not saying the GOP doesn't use fear tactics, but that they aren't alone in that use (abuse).

Have you read the RNC platform? Or the policy positions of any major republican politician running for President in the last 34 years?

I'm a bit busy right now so why don't we just skip to the part where you call me a liar and I call you an idiot.

They had some decent ideas back in the early 1860s, but I think they might have peaked early.

I asked you a question. Will you answer it? Or is insult all you are capable of?

SadistDave -> RE: The RNC uses FEAR.....AGAIN... (6/28/2014 3:01:02 AM)

Hillary won't win anyway. Her popularity is tanking even as we have this discussion because of all her b.s. about being poor. Word is that her publisher is going to lose money on her book deal because even liberals don't buy the bullshit she's selling.

The Democratic Party would be smart not to support her. It will get so ugly for her this time around that they might actually be doing her a favor. The woman is a serial enabler. Her inability to keep her husbands dick in his pants from the Governor's Mansion in Arkansas to the Oval Office (and probably beyond) will raise a lot of questions about whether she is actually fit to lead or if it will turn into Bill Clinton's third term. She will also get to revisit White Water, her insider commodities trading, Filegate, Chinagate, Travelgate, Lippogate, the theft of items from the White House and their staff vandalizing the White House when they left, that idiotic "Restart Button" fiasco, lying about being shot at by snipers, Benghazi, 6 billion dollars missing during her term at State, as well as her continued inability to connect with people as a human being after a lifetime in the public sector... all these things and more will come back to haunt her.... again. And again. And again.

Whether libs like it or not, she IS associated with Obama more than with her husband to just about everyone under 30. That's a big voter base for Democrats, and young people who are not happy with Obama are probably not going to bother showing up to vote for her. On top of that she is not in good health, so there is a good possibility that whoever she chooses as a running mate will be scrutinized for their Presidential qualities as well. If she runs, she will have to overcome all of her political failings as well as her running mates, Bill's and Barry's. It's going to be hard to actually pretend she has any good decent leadership qualities if she's constantly on the defensive over the careers of 4 people.

That's a LOT of shit to deal with and she doesn't deal with stress well. She won't survive the debates without her temper getting out of control and alienating huge chunks of the Democratic Parties voting base.

That wasn't an insult, that was a snarky comment implying that any answer given would result in you calling me a liar and me calling you an idiot in return. Now if you want an insult I could point out the trouble you just had reading a simple sentence and responding without reading shit that wasn't there, but that would be to easy.

I'm surprised you hadn't already assumed that had happened. It's pretty much a given.

I remember back during the Clinton Administration, the jab was that she was running the show. It's funny to me that there is an implication that if she were to get elected, it would be his third term.

True -- ironically he's painted himself into an irrelevant corner a priori.

Nahh...not really., The real fear is of the CIA and how they get the FBI to go along in the crimes they get clean away with. When they completely co-op NSA (well on its way) then TSA and HLS...now that's the fear I have for the young'ns of America.

America as I knew her...IS gone but only in a political sense. When it really hits the streets, it will be...too late. The dems are corrupt but still only kind of amateurish and only just enough for the status quo.

What the country really needs is a totally repub govt. ya'know....the real pros. So we can again get this show back on the road to that new world order and a true fascist capitalism.

But many on the left and even a few on the right felt Cheney was running the show. Hence the expression...President Cheney.
