Gauge -> Hobby Lobby: An Inconvenient Omission (6/30/2014 3:33:31 PM)

God, I cannot believe I am about to post something here...

If no one has brought this up, perhaps this bears discussion, perhaps not, but Hobby Lobby got caught with their foreskin in their zipper.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/01/hobby-lobby-invests-in-em_n_5070279.html

The article reveals a bit of a faux pas on behalf of these highly moral business owners. Perhaps when one takes a case all the way to the Supreme Court to defend their religious beliefs, they should not be investing in the very same pharmaceutical companies that make the contraceptives they are so outraged to be asked to provide. They see no problem with taking the money from this company, yet somehow find it immoral to make sure it is covered for their employees.

Hypocrite much?

The SC has made it clear that corporations are more important than people.

If you get a chance to see a clip of John Olivers take on it.... he pretty much nailed it to the floor and ground it into the shag pile.

I love John Oliver. His bit on Net Neutrality was epic. Thanks for the link.

Where is the outrage for not providing free condoms to men?

Lucylastic -> RE: Hobby Lobby: An Inconvenient Omission (7/2/2014 7:39:25 AM)

your viagra is covered and so are your vasectomies.
I hope you are covering up every time you have sex, its half your responsibility, even at your age

Viagra is not the same as a morning after pill or an IUD.

I do agree, however, that mandated coverage of Viagra, et al., should not be. Does Obamacare require Viagra to be covered?

Vasectomies and morning after pills and IUD's are not the same, either. A vasectomy is more like a woman getting her tubes tied. I can't say for sure, but, I'd bet that's covered. Not sure if either one of those is covered by mandate, though.

no, more women take birth control than men have vasectomies....why?

Did you go to school to learn that. Is there some meaning to that statement? Are you going to explane the sailent differences and why they are important to this discussion? Or is that a fucking secret?

I do agree, however, that mandated coverage of Viagra, et al., should not be.

But since it is you will surely be taking advantage of it. It is quite easy to say you do not aprove.

Does Obamacare require Viagra to be covered?

For as much as you have sniveled about the aca over the past year and not know what is or is not part of the aca is a clear indication of the decietful nature of your post.

I can't say for sure, but, I'd bet that's covered. Not sure if either one of those is covered by mandate, though.

You admit you have no clue about what you are posting but that does not seem to slow you down when you are determined to get both feet in your mouth at the same time.

LOL It is true that I am not trying but out here in the middle of the desert we don't have planned parenthood either. Other than them, the only place that issues them that I know of is the Military (or at least they used to). We have to go to Walmart or Walgreens or some other commercial establishment to get them and they don't give them away.

Might have something to do with BC being, essentially, not permanent (vasectomies, technically, aren't permanent, but they aren't necessarily easily or successfully reversed, either).

Might have to do with vasectomies being a surgery.

Might have to do with - pun intended - guys not having the balls to go through with it because of poor information/education on the procedure.

Equating birth control pills with a vasectomy, however, isn't apples to apples.

LookieNoNookie -> RE: Hobby Lobby: An Inconvenient Omission (7/2/2014 10:19:50 PM)

The entire Hobby Lobby gig is a bullshit gig.

Chics can still get contraceptive meds in these environments, they just have to pay for them.

Kinda like guys have to pay for dinner.

Buck up.

It's less than a few movies with a big popcorn and a large coke every other week.

Hate it? Get your guy to pay for it.

Deal with it.

(Someone call the fucking waaaaaaaaaambulance).

I think it has to do with a glass of water vs. a knife (gut feel but I'm going with it).

well if you really want to compare apples to apples....a hell of a lot more women have tubal ligations and hysterectomies then men have vasectomies.

But I do agree that the big problem is that most guys don't have the ball to go through with it....

Plenty of clinics, Planned parenthoods, and some websites offer free condoms. Can't say the same about these birth control methods.

That said, the ruling concerns "sincere religious belief." But obviously Hobby Lobby can't be that sincere in their beliefs if they'll compromise them to make a profit.

[sarcasm]I think you're right actually. Hobby Lobby should pull their money from those drug companies right away! Sure, the cash going to those baby killing divisions of the pharmaceutical companies is just a tiny fraction of the budget given to other products like vaccines and cancer treatments, but after all, nothing is more important than the fact that liberals would rather have more people sick and dying if it suits their political agendas. We certainly don't want corporations like Hobby Lobby reputation sullied by investing in the hundreds of beneficial drugs being developed every day by companies like Pfizer, on the off chance that a dime or two of their investment might be theoretically used to murder the unborn.

Hobby Lobby should pull ALL their investments in hospital antibiotics and childrens vaccines for third world shitholes and invest it in something else profitable, like guns or oil. I understand that wars in Iraq can be quite profitable. Perhaps a crusade to kill the heathen hordes and reclaim the Holy Land of Exxon would meet with your approval.[/sarcasm]

I get that having ones tubes tied is done an awful lot more than vasectomies, but that's not the point (though it is a more apples to apples comparison) since the suit wasn't about not being forced to pay for tubal ligations or hysterectomies.

How many women choose a hysterectomy solely for birth control reasons, though? That seems to be a bit excessive.

This procedure sounds like it should be something looked into.
