ORIGINAL: anthrosub This is fun...I've done the research my friend. A laser is as thin as a pencil when it leaves the gun but at 1000 feet, the cone covers the entire car and also weakens with distance, which is why they have to aim it at a reflective surface. Radar and laser detectors are currently illegal in 2 states (Virginia and Washington, DC). Radar and laser jammers are illegal in 9 states (Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.) anthrosub Ahem! I didn't realize Washington, D.C. was a state. That said, it figures radar and laser detectors would be illegal there. We sure woudn't want all those Congress peeps getting pulled over or receiving a citaton in the mail! What I am curious about is this... If radar and laser detectors are illegal in Washingtom, D.C., why would jammers be illegal in Washington, D.C. ? I mean, if they can't use the detectors in the first place... Why would anyone need to jam something that isn't legal to be used? ***Wanders off musing what they might be using radar and laser detectors for that is not traffic related, while making sure that this same illegal radar and laser detection cannot be jammed***
