It's very common for people think everyone else is like them.  This happens on the individual level as well as the social level.  Ever heard of the "everyone wants to be an American" myth.  I don't know how many times I've heard or read about the rude awakening Americans get when they travel abroad and realize people in other countries are quite happy with their own culture.  I work closely with a guy who constantly interacts with others as if they all have the same focus level and skills as he does.

Yes ego centrism is often fostered by culture-which is why it is so devisive. And why culture itself deserves to be questioned.

I would suppose it depends on whether or not you use a hairbrush. I know that Himself is very fond of hand spanking and his hand often gets red as the price he pays for the activity ... that and having a slave with a Kevlar coated ass.

Oh.. or did you mean something else? ::blinks all innocent like and stuff::

Celeste

LMAO...too funny...meant something else to start with...But now I am getting ideas

On a different note, it would be interesting to see a slave with a Kevlar-covered ass and how their Master/Mistress dealt with that...*winks*
I think I'd have to snarfu whatever drink I was consuming at the time..

No.  No no no.  Egocentrism is believing everything you think.  Everything any individual does is part of a culture, be it the culture of a sad, lonely Chudwah in a small room, or the culture of idiots I share a 100 degree freeway with.

Normal is what you are used to.  People get their panties in a bunch because they isolate themselves or run in volcanic little groups that all agree how messed up everybody else.  If they and all their friends agree, they must be right.  That's divisive.

Good reply...what I described above about the myth is not ego-centrism but ethno-centrism for those who are interested.  What we experience as "normal" is the image of what we think is reality that's been burned into our brains by repetition.

No one should be like me, I wouldn't like it if they were... too damn creepy to be in a world with Julia clones.

Resistance is futile.

You will be assimilated.
