Eh? How does marijuana in his bloodstream explain his aggressive attack? Jeez, his having gone to church that morning (I have no idea if he did or not) would probably make him more aggressive.

Arturas, you need to calm down. Seriously. Godzilla isn't live and tramping across the country.

??????????

I don't know about anyone else but in all the years I used marijuana with countless friends and cohorts, the last thing it ever seemed to make any of us was "aggressive".

Just sayin'.

Ok, I'm all for giving the cops the benefit of the doubt, and I've said several times that Brown seems to be a thug, but how does his having marijuana in his system "explain his aggressive attack"? I don't use drugs and never have, but my understanding is that pot makes you less likely to be aggressive. Yes? It can make you paranoid, which might explain his feeling he needed to attack a cop over a $50 box of cigars, but this seems a stretch.

You know, that wimp can't do anything anymore anyway, his health care plan is going to shit, nobody in the world listen's to him and he is despised and laughed at by our foreign enemies. That last one can get us killed but we did survive Jimmy Carter so we might this time too.

Depends on the person. You know the term "bad drunk"? It refers to people who get mean when they get high. While most of us start kissing and holding hands and get all friendly and even cry sometimes when we get high, there are a few who you need to stay away from because when they get fucked up they are truly looking to fuck things up. He also had traces of other drugs in his system which is not a good sigh either. What is a stretch is to claim the cop simply shot this guy up.

Think about it, stealing Swisher Sweets? Assaulting a store clerk over Swisher Sweets? One must be fucked up to do that.

Yeah. Bullets sometimes pass through, and aren't found in the body. The key bit was that the examiner who did the "autopsy" hadn't even seen the x-rays, Polite.

You're not ahead of me, Polite. You're so far behind you are about to get lapped.

Not only are you behind me, you cant even read. Baden stated brown had been shot six times.

Anyway, what happened to the *important* stuff of this thread? Is Collarme going to tell those rioters that they're morally in the wrong, or not?

Wilson fails the only tests that allow a police officer to use deadly force.

Except none of this is true. You've not heard, the cop shot Brown, fucked up on weed, when he refused an order to freeze and instead turned around and charged the cop. Sorry, but right wins again.

Since when did being high on pot make someone violent? What pot are you smoking?

re: Bama,
You posted this:
"I remember reading an article in a magazine circulated only to law enforcement agencies. It was written by a former IA guy. He said they would routinely arrive at the scene of an officer involved shooting. One of the first questions they would ask was how many rounds did you fire. Usual answer was in the order of "two, maybe three" they would then open the cylinder (this was in the days when cops carried revolvers) and all six had been fired. I doubt that this has changed, the cop probably didn't realize how many he had fired (he had other things on his mind)......."

I would agree that it has not changed, I think, from what I have been told, it might be the way the brain processes data in emergency's.

This was my experience in one of the last classes that I attended. The simulator would display a "crime" the two cops, one on each side of the screen (screen was probably 8'high X 10-12'wide) would react with their special weapons (Glocks with a laser beam instead of bullets) as if it was real. There were about 26 of us in class and after it was over and the question of how many rounds were fired was asked, usually nobody got it right even sometimes the two officers and they had years of experience on the force. The scenario would be played back with trajectories and bullet hits and it was awesome to see what really happened instead what we "thought" had happened. The mind is in the moment and not bothering to count. When the perp is down or the clip is empty then the mind reacts appropriately.

I am giving the cop the benefit of the doubt on this one until all the facts are in.

While it seems that I didn't make it clear the point of the article was that this is the way the human brain reacts in these situations. I quit hunting with an automatic because of an incident where I fired waited for the game to fall, it didn't I fired again waited, happened a third and fourth time. The animal then fell with four hits any of which would have been a quick kill and the guy next to me said "that gun shoots fast enough doesn't it. Do to time elongation that happens to some people the cop may not have realized he was even hitting till the magazine was empty.

So, you defend (otherwise why bring it up on this thread) emptying one's magazine into an unarmed person? You see a rationale for it?

Based on the facts we know -- the officer emptying his magazine (in the case sub justice) is the most damning evidence on the table. There is no defensible rationale for it, PERIOD. END OF STORY.

No, I think she was questioning your reading comprehension. And I must say you have just proven her point. So how about taking your head out of the clouds and responding to the things that people say and not the voices in your head.

No... but it does lower inhibitions...and if you are already aggressive...as he showed in the store...it may... I say may...have contributed to his aggressive behavior to the police officer.

But to me the bottom line is the boy was unarmed... he was shot when he was far enough away that powder burns were not shown...and he was shot 6 times. There is no way around it... the policeman killed him in anger or fear but neither of those should be an excuse for a police officer.

Yeah, that's important. I suppose it makes no difference either way when he charges you out of the night after being ordered to freeze. Yup. Sorry, my friend. Common sense and truth is prevailing. Damn, right?

Myself, I'd just wind up my car window, put the car in gear, and move. Then maybe get out of the car and tell the man to stop screwing with me. But that's just me, my idea of common sense, and the little facts that I wouldn't have a gun, and nor would he, anyway.

I would have done the same thing, but neither one of us are cops in St Louis so it really doesn't matter what we would have done.

Marijuana stays in the bloodstream for days after it was imbibed and after the subject is 'stoned', so I hear. I don't think, in all, this 'dope' story means much on its own. As for the rest of your comment: yes, on the face of it, it doesn't look good for the cop or, more importantly, for the prospects of dissipating the ill-feelings.
