ButWhyIsItSecret -> ASMR (8/13/2014 8:29:31 PM)

I have ASMR, and it's a major past time for me. Anybody else have ASMR?

MrRodgers -> RE: ASMR (8/14/2014 12:03:53 AM)

What is it...a new version of grand theft auto ? Oh, I am sorry...GFA.

ShaharThorne -> RE: ASMR (8/14/2014 1:16:51 AM)

Without any details of what it is, how can we talk about it?

smileforme50 -> RE: ASMR (8/14/2014 3:41:46 AM)

According to good ol' Wikipedia....

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli. The nature and classification of the ASMR phenomenon is controversial,[1] though there is a considerable cult following and strong anecdotal evidence to support the phenomenon despite the lack of verifiable data.[2]

SeekingTrinity -> RE: ASMR (8/14/2014 6:46:06 AM)

Ah just as I suspected...a thread without a point [:)]

DesFIP -> RE: ASMR (8/14/2014 8:31:00 AM)

I'm not sure. We've had threads asking about how many others have synesthesia or OCD. Why not ask about this?

Yup
Care to elaborate on this phenomenon, for those of us who are still trying to figure out what ASMR is all about? [sm=confused.gif]

(Thanx in advance [:)] )

DesFIP -> RE: ASMR (8/15/2014 2:22:16 PM)

I'd like some clarification if he thinks it's past time that he got rid of it, or if it's an enjoyable pastime. And if so how, do you go around saying "cool, my scalp is tingling again".

Maybe it's me but this just sound like a fancy way of describing that people can get turned on.

Methinks you may be onto something. Sounds an awful lot like most anybody's physiological responses to being horny, getting aroused and stimulated (without manual intervention).

Seriously, give me Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and Jude Law (yeah, I'll take all three--hot damn), and I'll show you my parasympathetic bodily responses in a heartbeat. [;)]

DesFIP -> RE: ASMR (8/16/2014 8:31:48 AM)

But it doesn't specify sexual. If smelling fresh baked cookies makes your scalp tingle, then that's something unusual for most people.

FieryOpal -> RE: ASMR (8/19/2014 7:35:14 AM)

(1) Also known as: AIHO (Attention induced head orgasm), AIE (Attention induced euphoria), or simply "head orgasms"/"head tingles".

Yup, pretty sure this is an erotically arousing and/or soothing set of sensory responses, which would have been considerate of the OP to elaborate upon or to have provided forum readers with an informative link. [sm=m23.gif]

(2) ASMR videos usually involve one or more of the following things:
• Gentle whispering
• Relaxing hand movements
• Smacking of the lips
• Nail tapping/scratching on hard surfaces such as tables
• Brushing sounds

Hey, I get plenty of "pleasurable tingling sensation(s)" from grooving to my music. Tingling and pulsating throbs not limited to the hairs on the back of my neck, up & down my spine, though. [;)]
Take a listen to Hannah-Falling Away (Protoculture Remix) Technopop Dance Music {includes Trance rework playlist by my talented buddy Raido Ojamets}.

OK, wow. Where the heck do you go to find out if you have that? I always thought it was adrenaline but this sounds closer to my experience while domming and climaxing tantricly. Also if on a really intense rollercoaster ride (fear of heights never stopped me) or a heavy make out session. (Still torn about it being adrenaline with occasional orgasm thereafter. Especially with the lack of medical evidence supporting it.) I get a tingling in my face though, primarily my lips and the tip of my nose, (a very different type of tingling as if tiny caterpillar hairs and brushing over my lips and nose).
While domming though, yes, I can climax without disrobing but isn't tantric sex quite similar? I'm primarily tactile, olfactory might be second (pheromones, I just LOVE the scent of a man), then cognitive and of course visual. Auditory does little for me though I have yet to have someone whisper creepily in my ear, LOL.
I have asked people if adrenaline affects them the same way and no one has yet to confirm so eh. As long as it's not indicative of something being wrong with me, haha. (Well something else.) [;)]

shiftyw -> RE: ASMR (8/19/2014 9:39:59 AM)

^ tingling in your face, espicially, around the lips, and after a high energy activity- is actually usually a sign of low calcium- and you should absolutely get blood tested for it...

It is MY understanding that ASMR doesn't give you a boner and an orgasm. I suppose it can be erotic- but it isn't sexual in most cases. Its not the same as "getting wet". To me its always sounded like "goosebumps" to the extreme. They also can hear someone's voice and "melt" into a trance. It, to me, seems closer to a meditation thing than a sexual one. If that makes any sense.

Impossible, I have a huge amount of bone density, enough to legpress 500 lbs and I get my blood checked anytime I pop in for an annual visit. Also I doubt calcium deficiency is what makes me cum without physical stimulation directly on that region of my body but thanks for the input! And I orgasm, cum, climax. Getting wet is easy for me, I'm probably wet right now for all I know. I'm always "somewhat" aroused. [:D]
Edited to add: by the way, in case anyone needs this reference. Most obvious sign of low calcium is white spotting in your nails.

shiftyw -> RE: ASMR (8/19/2014 10:00:10 AM)

Ok...
[8|]
Bone density is not necessarily a direct factor. My mom has hypocalcaemia- as a result of hypoparathyroidism. Her bones are still great.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypocalcaemia

For the record it isn't what would make you cum- it would be a symptom of something else that cumming (or any high adrenaline activity) would bring out.

The rest of my post was not supposed to be directly TO you. But everyone else in this thread who was saying it wasn't any different than being turned on.

Thanks dear, pretty familiar, worked with three doctors and did EKGs and ran blood tests and the like. Earliest being a cardiologist at 17 so pretty aware of all this stuff but again, input appreciated but I can literally read my own blood tests.
Also this ASMR might not even exist, I also stated pretty sure it's adrenaline in my case that just happens to be couple with a high sex drive. :)

The point is "Look at me!"

FelineRanger -> RE: ASMR (8/19/2014 11:47:06 AM)

I don't know what the validity of ASMR is as a diagnosable condition. But the Preston & Steve morning show on Philadelphia's WMMR had a major segment on it.
