Well: it seems the Radicals' contempt for the rule of law has caught up with Presidential-Loser Rick Perry.

First Christie, now Perry. It's starting to look like the Dems are headed for a cake walk in '16.

I'm not sure Perry would have been the GOP candidate, nor am I sure that he would have had a chance if he was. We'll have to see how this plays out to see.

On the other hand, if he's guilty of abusing his office to punish the other party, he might just be Presidential material! [8D]

I dunno what the hell this has to do with the OP...
maybe it should be a new thread?

As to the OP, he will walk away from this...

all politicians are pretty much the same, they take money from the 1%, most politicians are the 1%, and when their lips are moving, they are lying..

Hillary is a bit worse than the rest tho, imo..

With all the tongue-wagging support Odumboears has gotten vis-à-vis his misuse of the IRS, this should gain Perry all kinds of PPL support.

Screen captures still RULE! Ya feel me?

Definitely not a fan of Rick Perry, but the DA was recently convicted of DUI and made a spectacle of herself in the police station. She's not fit for office.

Historically, even to this day, the misuse of government agencies is something nutsackers would felch to stand in line to do (and do).

MrRodgers -> RE: Rick Perry Takes A Header... (8/16/2014 9:05:04 AM)

Look, it doesn't take long for the underlying theme to become that both parties and all politicians are equally corrupt and hypocritical...they are not. In fact they are far from it.

The dems are rank amateurs while the repubs are truly refined pros at this stuff. Go look at the historical scoreboard.

Lucylastic -> RE: Rick Perry Takes A Header... (8/16/2014 9:25:34 AM)

If he is the first governor in texas to be indicted in almost a hundred years, no wonder he was trying to get rid of the office examining corruption.
That she was charged with a DUI , maybe thats enough to get her kicked out of her "office" but why continue with the whole department? it looks awfully more underhanded than that. Did she try and "corrupt" her way out of her punishment?

Speaker of the House? Really?

President Obama has been accused of abusing his office for partisan reasons. President Obama has been accused (not that I agree with the accusation, mind you) of using the IRS for partisan reasons.

W has been accused of abusing the power of his office.

Clinton was accused of it, too.

So were Reagan, Bush 41, LBJ, JFK, Lincoln, FDR, etc.

Thus, Perry abusing the power of his office might just make him Presidential material. [:D]

How has Boehner abused the power of the Speaker of the House? Has Harry Reid abused the power of the President of the Senate in the same way? Maybe that just shows they, too, are Presidential material.

Lucylastic -> RE: Rick Perry Takes A Header... (8/16/2014 10:19:36 AM)

Possibly, but there's no way to tell because the staffers, presumably, didn't go get the sheriff. From the article (italics mine):
    quote:

Perry and other high-profile Republicans said Lehmberg should resign after she was arrested and pleaded guilty to drunken driving in April 2013. A video recording made at the jail showed Lehmberg shouting at staffers to call the sheriff, kicking the door of her cell and sticking her tongue out. Her blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit for driving.

Not behavior becoming of an elected official, no doubt. But, getting drunk and acting like an ass isn't unheard of in political circles.

But, this indictment could be more of a political ploy than anything, too. Also from the article (italics mine again):
    quote:

No one disputes that Perry is allowed to veto measures approved by the Legislature, including parts of the state budget. But the left-leaning, Austin-based Texans for Public Justice government watchdog group filed an ethics complaint accusing the governor of coercion because he threatened to use his veto before actually doing so in an attempt to pressure Lehmberg to quit.

Were W, Obama and Clinton also acting coercively by threatening to veto legislation before the legislation was passed and "veto-able?" How many political officials have threatened to veto legislation in an attempt to prevent it's passage? Is Harry Reid unethically attempting to bully Boehner and the House of Representatives by refusing to bring any House-passed measures to the floor? Or, is he not guilty of the same because he isn't saying it before he has the opportunity to sit on it?

This indictment may or may not have any merit. If it does, and Perry is found guilty, he should be held to the whatever consequences are proper for the crime.

What was your point, then?

This is a fast reply.

Wow. A corrupt politician abusing his power. Let me put on my shock face.

Before everyone gets all bent out of shape with that comment, that applies to Democrats and Republicans and politicians in general.
