I see you've caught BamaGunUpTheButt Disease.

There should be a LAW against drinking and driving, with criminal prosecution. AND a law against killing innocent people with reckless actions.

Oh....wait......there are.

Let's see, a 9mm NATO round weighs about 7.45 grams, with a fatality possibility of 1 (in the right hands).

How much does that car weigh, I'm werkin sumthin out?

That's right...there are.

Nope. Just believe in the right to own one and the responsibility to use it properly. Unlike say, the owners of the gun range, their instructor, and the parents of the nine year old.

By the way, which right was the 17 yr old here exercising?

I see. It would have been better if the 17 year old had shot the victim.

What if he shot the victim from his car while drunk?

It is so nice that, knowing I have him on hide, Music insists on attacking me in posts to other people. They say you are known by your enemies, Music's dislike of me makes me so proud.

You aren't able to distinguish between attacking your principle/approach and attacking you personally.

It's among the reasons discussion with you is pointless -- you're unable to understand the points.

So what age *is* too young, if not 9? Should 2 year olds be taught? Does the Constitution protect the right of a 2 year old to bear arms? Or might a sensible people legislate an appropriate age and safeguards to protect the citizenry?

The NRA has become the National Ridiculous Associates.

Your going to use...WEIGHT...to determine the depth of 'killing potential'?

OK....

How much does a 9mm NATO round weight? According to your figures, "....7.45 grams....". How about the most common car in the USA right now

How much does that car weight? 3305 pounds.

So lets plug in the numbers....

1 pound is equal to 453.592 grams.....

The CRV weighs 1,499,121.56 grams. That would mean to have the same amount of weight in 9 mm NATO bullets, we would need 201,224!

Your going to have us all believe a person armed with just 1/1000th the rounds (that would be 201 bullets) could not kill more than a car in a time frame it took to unload all those bullets? Assuming we have a professional and skilled driver and shooter?

.....BULL....and...SHIT.....

No...I'm comparing the actions of a 17 yr old with absolutely no right to own or drive a car to the actions of people who had rights and disregarded them. The result is the same...pointless deaths, no matter the weapon used.

JMO....

The second amendment is a wonderful thing. But I think people forget that when it was written, the "arms" most people were "bearing" were muskets that needed to be reloaded after every single shot. NOT guns that could shoot 30 rounds in less than a minute. I'm all for people keeping and owning guns....as long as they're muskets.

One of my ex-bf's is a gun enthusiast. I didn't mind it in the beginning. As a matter of fact, he taught me how to shoot. Well, he taught me how to handle a gun...I still can't hit anything smaller than a tractor trailer. I wasn't too enthused about it in the beginning, but now I'm glad he taught me because it helped me get over my total phobia of guns. However....when I finally left him (and this is not why I left him) he had his own mini-arsenal of about 28 guns. He talked about being able to protect us if anyone ever broke into the house. My question to him was always...."So here we are sitting in the living room watching TV and someone breaks in here. All your guns are locked in the safe upstairs. How is that going to protect us? What are you going to do....tell the criminal the "hold on a minute til I can get upstairs and open my safe"? He then discovered that Delaware was an "open carry" state, so he started carrying a 9mm on his person. THAT scared the shit out of me.

I was happy with the 6 shot revolver. Why anyone needs more than that is beyond me.

So I have question....seriously because I really don't know where they stand on this.....Does the NRA and gun lobby support the right of the average citizen to keep and bear bombs and nuclear warheads? I mean....they are "arms" aren't they? Since the Constitution doesn't specify "muskets" or "non-automatic", why don't we ALL just start stockpiling all the "arms" we can....then nobody will give anyone else any shit ....right?

The Brown Bess, a musket, was the assault weapon of the day.
Did you know that it also covered privately owned artillery pieces?
The idea that since they only had muskets at the time means that is all we should have now is like saying that only newspapers printed on a hand cranked press are protected by the first.
Or like saying that since they didn't have mobile homes they aren't covered by the fourth.
The idea sounds good when talking to people who agree with you but falls apart under inspection.
Did you know that his 9 mm most likely has a safety and the revolver doesn't?

Look there is nothing dis-positive here.

Cars and our roadways are and have been a choice that society has made and the deaths therefrom are the price we pay for the freedom to drive just about anywhere at anytime.

The price the driver should pay should be 20-30 years behind bars to consider the lives lost as compared to his life still being saved by a benevolent society. In other countries I believe the driver could suffer the death penalty.

Actually, in some states, it is completely legal for a 16 year old to own a drive a car and quite a few states allow younger (I know one state has a 14 year limit) people to have special "agricultural licenses" to help out on the family farm.

I only point this out because it might have been completely legal (and therefore a right) for a 17 year old to own and drive the vehicle.

Absolutely agreed but Creative's quote seemed to say that 17 year olds are automatically precluded from owning or driving a car.

In the commonwealth in which I currently reside, the age is 16 for driving (I'm not sure about ownership but, since they can register the car in their name, that suggests "ownership", as well).

Yes that would imply ownership. I do agree with her primary point that both are examples of people abusing rights, and neither is a reason to attack the rights.
Here since the family farm is private property I don't think they need a license.
