And for all the screeching the leftards do about the VietNam war, you'd think they'd be conversant with the facts . . . we were pulled into that hell by . . . France!

cite please?

As a student of history, I am quite convinced that being on the same side as France is generally quite unsafe.

As a student of history you must have been in the shithouse smokin fags otherwise you might have heard of lafayett.

US advisers began arriving in 1950 (to help France) and it was STILL French-Indochina.

I am pretty sure that truman was president of the u.s. and not of france. So yes the president of the u.s. tok us to viet nam and not france.

There is actually a rather famous book AND movie (with Mel Gibson) that goes over this. "We Were Soldiers Once. . . And Young"

If you depend on novels and the movie for your education you will be forever ignorant.

There's a quote about France, probably arising from their reputation based upon their late entry into our revolution while promising help for years,

Had you ever read a history book written for someone beyond the fifth grade you would not post such ignorant shit.

all of WWI

Over four million dead frenchmen and you think they are cowards?[8|]

Actually the British signed the treaty ending the war of 1812 largely because Napoleon had escaped Elba.

That took place in the 60's, it is the only Vietnam movie that doesn't infuriate me.

Since you were never there how would you know?
For those who have "good morning vietnam" was the only one that was even close. Nothing but a bunch of phoquing lifers trying to make everyone's life miserable.

Forget the Middle East. In South Brunswick, NJ, a bunch of them gathered at the mosque and had a little hootenanny and wondered why a few of them got their asses beat by some South Jersey Redneck types.

And this is why he has as much credibility and contempt as Sanity
The Treaty of Ghent was signed on December 24, 1814
The U.S. Senate unanimously approved the treaty on February 16, 1815, and President James Madison exchanged ratification papers with a British diplomat in Washington on February 17; the treaty was proclaimed on February 18. Eight days later, on February 26, Napoleon escaped from Elba, starting the war in Europe again, and forcing the British to concentrate on the threat he posed.

I'll bet that sorta info is available with a couple of keystrokes. One would not even have to walk to the library wearing body armor and carrying two guns to find that out but shooting from the lip is so much more kewel.

Well apart from the fact that I know the history thanks to my old mans fascination with the wars regarding Napoloeon, yes Im safe n sound in my office, sipping a rather nice cuppa tea.
He has me on hide tho, so he may think he got away with it.

There are many on here who claim they have people on hide just so they don't look the fool when they try to defend their weak shit.

Because when someone begs for something it is rude not to give it to them?

That's something I hadn't considered. I guess those good ol' boys aren't sadists, then? [:D]

the best way to bring people to enlightened democracy isn't by killing them.

I'd be interested to know of how many countries around the world have had democracy forced upon them and it has worked and stood the test of time.

I can't think of many.

It worked in Germany but that country was the odd one out of the bunch because it was highly civilised for obvious reasons that don't need to be explained,

But, where else?

I think that people/countries have to go through the civil strife in order to arrive at the obvious conclusion.

And, what I meant to say but didn't is that democracy is organic. It is a thought process that only you can solve; no one can do it for you.

The whole point of democracy is that you think for yourself, and if someone else is doing the thinking for you then that's a monumental paradox that simply can't be reconciled.

According to the cia factbook japan is a constitutional monarchy and not a democracy
According to the cia factbook italy is a republic and not a democracy.
According to the cia factbook korea did not get it's first civilian president until the 90's and that the level of corrupion is excessive with fist fights breaking out in the legislature on a regular bassis.
It would appear that the top of your head is full of hot air and little else.
