Why does it seem highly unlikely, there are muslims your neck of the woods, and one would think that to spoof you a saudi ip, they are doing something a little more than having you on for visiting the states, Gaz.

Yeah, maybe, but it seems wasted effort unless I can prove who has done it.

What are my chances of finding this proof?

None. Nada. Absolute zero.

If your PC is using a Saudi IP address, it's doing things behind the scenes that you are not aware of.
It may not be someone spying on you.
In fact, that is almost certainly NOT the intention at all.
So proof of that activity is very likely to be a big fat zero. Seriously.
However, being roped-in to part of a spybot network is quite serious and something you need to stamp out.

Why are you treating this as a moment you could teach me to behave, instead of a moment you could learn something technically useful?

Who said I was trying to teach you to behave? You knew something I did not which meant I learned something from you.

Seriously, think this through logically. Why would any private computer on earth want a Saudi IP address? Saudi citizens use non-Saudi IPs, because if you use a Saudi IP, all kinds of sites are blocked, and you have download restrictions, even on the sites you're allowed to visit. There's exactly one reason for a UK computer to have a Saudi IP, and that is to zombify the computer. So I did a Google search on "botnets 2012" because the OP said a couple years ago, and sure enough, first link, Saudi IPs.

Well, you used a search engine, I did not. In a lot of troubleshooting I have done with computers as well as when I worked as a service technician in the HVAC trade, you start simple and work your way up. Eliminate the obvious first, if it is not obvious, you keep going. There is nothing wrong with that approach, unless, of course, you believe that your way of doing things is superior, but my methods work for me.

Your diagnostic skills will improve if you take the opportunity to see things more broadly. If you want to defend your current way of looking at things, instead of growing, that's your choice. But cutting an order to "relax" to someone who isn't your sub isn't a way to get better at anything.

Since I am not a myopic twat (not implying that you are either), I tend to have a very open mind and look at things on a more broad scale than most. I defended nothing, I explained my starting point to someone that was having a problem. You gave a warning to be weary of free advice on a kink forum... which was a little out of line because none of the advice given was harmful. I never said that the problem would definitely be solved by doing a malware scan or a virus scan, I do believe I said to start there. You did some digging and found a record of a problem, which may be the problem, or it may not. Neither of us actually know what the problem is, we are offering the same level of advice.

I don't order people around, my comment "Relax" was simply there to let you know that you implied the assistance given freely in the spirit of being helpful was worthless. Maybe it was worthless for his particular problem... or maybe it wasn't. Do you know for certain if it is or isn't? I never issued you an order... I am not egomaniacal nor am I presumptuous enough to believe that I could effectively give an order to anyone online.

Kudos to you for finding out what you discovered... I mean that sincerely. We are both trying to help NG solve a problem. I promise not to shit all over your advice... please, try not to shit on mine. We have the same goal here, and I will always take an opportunity to learn from others. I will also be the first person to admit when I do not know something, or if I was wrong about something. If you misunderstood my intent, that is my fault for not being clearer and therefore I apologize if you took it the wrong way.

Your computer is doing something it shouldn't, you do not know what that thing is and that is the problem. Your computer could be doing anything, or it could be doing nothing currently, but rest assured, it is set up to do something eventually. You don't need to figure out the who, you need to fix the problem for good and then you can try to investigate the who and why. Allowing the problem to stay would be ill advised, but entirely up to you.

Are you using a VPN like "HideMyAss" or "IPvanish"? Those are Saudi VPNs, and your traffic will report a Saudi IP address.

Fuck knows. I just turn up at the shop, buy a computer, take it home and switch it on.

Well here's the deal. A computer does not have an IP address. An IP address is like a street address. It's not "your" address, it's the location's address. If I go onto the Internet from my house, I'll show as coming from one IP address. If I go next door and use my neighbor's connection, I'll show as coming from a different IP address. Your IP address depends entirely on the location you are using to access the Internet. So, where were you when you ordered your tickets?

I would suggest that you go to WhatIsMyIP, make a note of the IP address it reports, and see if that is the same IP address reported on your ticket order. You can also go to the Network Solutions WhoIs Search, indicate that you are entering an IP address (not a domain name), and click the Search button to find out who owns the block of addresses in which an IP address falls.

If you ordered from home, then open the Windows command processor and type in the command:

tracert collarchat.com

The resulting trace will list every Internet node that your request traverses between your location and the specified domain, showing you where your traffic is being routed. That might prove interesting. Also, this will tell you where an IP address is located.

I've got an ancient program called Neotrace Pro that does pretty much the same thing with a pretty interface

Here is just of the views available and it's better than a Command prompt list of numbers and you don't have to remember the command.

IP addresses don't have a nationality in the first place.

I'd be willing to bet it is a badly programmed backbone router in Arabia that changes the origination code on packets to be the backbone router location. Or, your ISP is running a NAT server system that backtraces to a saudi system at the NAT portal.
