Status: offline 		How much of that is attempting to upsell me? Is this really a slow computer?

Status: offline 		According to the Intel site, that processor was released in the first quarter of this year.

Get the computer you can afford and want as long as it will do what you need it to do. If that is what you want, and it is new, then buy it. Yes, there are faster laptops out there, but unless you are doing heavy graphic intensive things like gaming and video editing, you will be fine.

What do you do on your computer?

Status: offline 		Mostly websurf, chat on yahoo instant messengers, very rarely any more play flash games. Very rarely webcam, Watched porn from places like pornmd.com but on my new laptop i do not think I will do that, to easy to get ickies. I will occasionally watch movies on it, upload pictures from a memory card reader.. And very rarely connect to hot spots and use my laptop outside.

I can spend up to 500 but this one is 288 with instore pick up and I am very impressed.

Status: offline 		I prefer the I series over the Pentium series, a Previous Gen i5 or i7 outranks the one you have listed here... The Pentium series went from being their top of the line about 10 or so years ago to being their budget name, while it will do what you list above, the limitations on it will require an upgrade sooner then with a better processor...While other limitations are easier to fix/upgrade over time like memory, hdd, cd/dvd drive, a processor is a lot harder because of the board.

Also Best buy is one of the worst places to buy tech, see if you have a newegg, tiger direct, microcenter or frys in the area to you to go take a look there instead. My Microcenter had an Alienware maxed out to perfection for under a grand a few months back, because it was open box.

That is a single core processor and the one you are looking at is a quad core. It should be a lot faster.

Have you tried just doing a fresh reload of your system to get the crap that accumulates off? Your system isnt all that terribly bad to need updated unless It has a problem that cant be resolved with a warranty fix.

Status: offline 		I originally saw it on Frys, and I tried calling their store to ask questions and I was told they do not have a strait into store number, I could only get a call center, I had to come down to the store and the sorte manager would not be guarenteed to know what I wanted to know, so I have very little confidence in Frys.

Daddy contacted teh manufacture and with out the warenty papers, which Daddy lost, they can't do much abouti t being broke. So, he has to take it to a local computer repair person or buisiness. And the laptop is his and I want my own.

Just consider the learning curve of windows 7 to 8, Id look online for win 8 tutorials if your going with a win 8 machine... It drove me batshit the first 3 months of minimal use. Now it just annoys me and I put it in 7esq mode.

Status: offline 		I could just look for another one like his, or pay to get his fixed, up until it kaputed, i had no problem with it. And i was the one that used it most.Depending on how much it costs to get it fixed.

Yeah, most places charge regardless if they can repair because your still using their time.
